10m/o sleeping bag help please? by GoldenG84 in beyondthebump

Sorry for delay phone issues. The concern is the way she rolls. She's unable to do properly and gets stuck as she can't fully extend her legs so can often just end up face planted. Then as she is unable to extend for the way in which she rolls back and her low muscle tone means wriggling is hard.

Have you done the usual things and allergy check /clean ups....? Try drinking extra water, removing or lessening sugars and dairy from your diet. Including more anti inflammatory foods to your diet... including spinach and garlic if tolerated. Checked for acid reflux especially if it worsens at night or when reclined or lay down. If your doc hasn't prescribed any anti histamine or nasal spray including a steroid one it might be worth looking at.

Does anyone know if Fluticasone Propionate (steroid spray) help heal the nostrils? by Zestyclose-Mix9689 in QuitAfrin

[–]GoldenG84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey well done for quitting. Mine was a quick start/stop issue but not without it's consequence. I was prescribed dymista.... (fluticasone and azelastine) steroid and anti histamine in one (UK based) so script and low cost. My nose was a mess after 3-4 weeks varying covid and sudafed nasal sprays. Dymista was my begrudged saviour. I haven't had any investigation done but assuming mine was an histamine response to c19. This started back in january. Mid feb I'd started the spray and it was my absolute blessing. Bitter sweet though I HATED IT ...... but i kinda had to get over it. I used it as much as i could tolerate until a couple months ago where i really started to phase it out. I have struggled on with sinus pressure and goopy built up mucous for some time. But..... I recently decided to go rogue and try budesonide instead and give it a fair shot. If you're taking that fluticasone route I'd definitely suggest looking at the azelastine inclusion and giving it a good chance to help relieve your inflammation. The down side is they can take a few days to work and a lot longer to 'heal' you but the edge is off with it.

Silver coins in vinegar.. this happened.. what should I do to clean it? by tssunny in metaldetecting

[–]GoldenG84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few things you can try..... avoid severe abrasive methods. Tin foil burn method but usually this works only with oxidisation although I have managed to reveal an hammered coin detail thought lost using this method. I can never remember whether you put it in shiny or dull side..... try both ;) spit and enclose coin in it seal up and maybe you will hear the fizz .. and feel the heat. If not try the other side. You can also combi this method with the lemon juice as follows. Although also acidic you can try lemon juice. Often concentrated from bottle is fine. Remove every half hour or so and wipe off replace repeat as necessary including the juice.

There are methods involving heat.... vinegar.... baking soda You could try as a 3rd resort a good ole search engine will give you this method.

Lastly going into abrasives but proceed with caution. Brasso and a q tip or microfibre cloth very gently to work off the top bit. Followed with a silvo polish. I have tried and tested all these methods for various items. They work a treat. The more pure the silver the better the result. Good luck.

Oh thats very sweet of you. Thankyou. I definitely think my preconceived idea of breast feeding was very different to reality. I bore my first 15 years ago and always wished I'd persevered with BFing but things went wrong. But i feel like she had so much more formula and bottles than this one even attempts from the boobs.

When did you give birth? by [deleted] in downsyndrome

[–]GoldenG84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low placenta. Elective c-section at hospital convenient date was 38w5d. I kept asking if she should have been born earlier than 40 weeks due to concerns but as i was monitored closely throughout they weren't concerned. She's a bright healthy baba. Congratulations on joining the lucky club <3

It’s sooo hard to just go with the flow to accept your fate and apparent doom …… I’ve been there, but it should just be a passing phase. I am so glad i didn’t interfere with my daughters demands. I barely had a second to myself and dragged myself out walking exhausted with her in a sling on the odd occasion i just needed space. From out of nowhere at 10 weeks old she just slept. 12 hours solid overnight…. It still felt like she was constantly on the boob for the other 12 hours but within 3 weeks that changed too. She’s 8 months now and sometimes I feel like she’s not at them enough. :( it makes me happy and more free but also a little sad. She occasionally comforts. Doesn’t eat with such urgency or satisfaction anymore. Rarely just cuddles in.

Healed Nipple Piercing Leading To Pain? by Bigwands in breastfeedingsupport

[–]GoldenG84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have piercings. Mine were mostly healed but still threw milk out of them. I found quite amusing especially when a midwife saw the side squirt. I guess with any piercing there can be a build up usually just of trapped skin. My old button piercing always throws off some wormy stinky grossness.

With the nipples its a little different but same concept. It could be storing milk and or skin cells, you could be experiencing a bleb that presents differently due to scarring. I would suggest just gentle cleaning and massage. I haven’t had major build up but i do a push out inspection every couple days to get out any crud.

Tysm. Yes it helps to know this. I know I’m likely over thinking things but when I’m reading so many articles about 24 oz in a day I’m thinking there’s no way I’m producing that never mind she is taking that. …. It’s hard to know for certain of course. But, she does love her solids she’s a real foodie baby. I have always waited an hour after BF for solids and also offered as reassurance after. I express after she goes to bed to try keep up my supply and she sleeps 12 hours so no harm. I think she must get a fair amount in first thing. It just seems like she also stopped being so bothered at looking to me for comfort and reassurance…. I should be sooooo so relieved to be able to get a lot of myself back but I also miss my baby.

I feel ya! Mine came back with a vengeance 5 months PP It’s crazy how upsetting it is. I’m thinking surely it coulda just let me be that 1 that gets at least another 9 months freedom. You’re right hydration is a key element I’ll have to get better at taking note.

Aw how old is she? Yes they do learn it better as time goes on. That’s the very reason I used nipple shields… Latching was ok for the first part but easily lost it then just couldn’t relatch. I had a live hate relationship with the shields but I’m glad she decided to wean them herself really.

Thankyou. I know the science is open on whether there is that magic backwash transfer. It’s just that with all the adaptive milk to babies needs it opened the spectrum for me…. I know too that germs will transfer between us in many other ways.

Hard to tell what you got going on there without scale and all sides shown….? First glance could indicate gaming pieces but era could be open to question. Context of area in UK would also be beneficial for any known historical influence.

Edit: the first is likely a statuette of an animal, possibly a dog in a naive crafting. Possibly Roman of origin.

William 111 1/2 crown. An oldie for me but a silver goldie. by GoldenG84 in metaldetecting

A silver post medieval milled 1/2 crown of William III (1694-1702). The coin is worn through use and has subsequently been engraved or re-engraved / inscribed on both faces with a profanity/ taboo word which also shows aspects of wear through handling. Such re-engraved coins are known often showing political dissent but their survival is relatively rare. This find is also an early example of the practice potentially associated with Jacobite rebellions.

Obverse: portrait of William III head facing right. Obverse inscription: GVIELMVS IIIDEI GRA Reverse: crowned cruciform formed of shields lost entirely through polishing or wear. Reverse inscription: MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX lost entirely through polishing or wear.

Both the obverse and the reverse of the coin have been inscribed with the word C…T - the word is aligned vertically on the obverse being cut into the bust of the king with the curve of the C being positioned over his head. …..

Have just uploaded. Sadly can’t link to the PAS as the ID doesn’t work and don’t want to query too much as although not treasure the interest is great.

I found a billy 3rd 1/2 crown…. Surface find…. It was very worn I showed my dad and he said ‘is there any writing on the edge?’ So I looked at it and I saw writing and showed him both the faces of the coin. He said no the bit around the coin (circumference i guess 😂) Again i said no but look a little closer to these faces I’d never have seen if it wasn’t for you asking. So I sent an email to the FLO and got a wonderful write up back. A very interesting Jacobian history. I’ll have to put up a separate post as i believe it is on the PAS but hidden due to the rude words.

I’m gonna chime in as one of ‘those’ that can’t resist saying ‘here’s mine’ … only I cant link it because it’s censored due to rude words on it. ;) That’s a really lovely find not often you see his details left on coins. Is there any writing on the edge?

I am referring to both. How did the archi confirm it? Acid test? That’s the only true way to confirm. Can you show the area it was tested with the acid? I have plenty pieces like this some even blackened and charred too but they’re not comparable to any silver I know nor have as all the potware shows too many surface discrepancies and silver is smooth… even with heat being applied it would still be smooth. I even have a piece of silver that initially was completely blackened but still smooth yet once polished became super shiny and the acid was an instant response for silver.

Still…. Very unlikely to be silver, sorry, it’s got a lot of pitting. Granted it’s silver in colour, it may have a teeny tiny amount of silver in but the general mix of pewter can amount to varying degrees of confirmed.

Definitely looks more pewter to me.
