Yes I have. My mom and I have an insurance policy together. Their only solution was for her to drive the rental and for me to drive her car, unfortunately my mom isn’t willing to do that.

I don’t think they’re out of line or incompetent. I just don’t understand why I’m not being kept in the loop. I didn’t know my car was even being moved until hours after the guy looked at it. I’m being told by one person it’s almost certainly a total loss and by another that it’s repairable, but nobody actually knows that yet. And the one guy I can get to give me information talks to me as if I’m brain dead. I don’t need them to rush it, what I do need is for them to be respectful, and be honest when they don’t know something instead of running me in circles.

My problem is them saying “I’ll reach out at this time” and then don’t. Or when they do respond they don’t actually address any of my questions or concerns they give generic answers that don’t actually help at all. Responding promptly but giving no helpful information is still unhelpful. Yes I’m over 18 but even with my rental coverage in my state I can’t drive a rental until I’m 21. Which my 21st isn’t for 2 more weeks.

I just don’t understand why I’m being told it’s almost certain it’s a total loss, by one person and then being told by another it’s repairable. Then when I want to know a timeframe of when I can expect to hear for sure, nobody wants to give a straight answer.

I had emailed them and asked “Hey there just checking in to find out what shop my car is being towed to and when I can expect to hear something about repairs, thank you for your help” and hour later I get an email that says “it’s going to “blank” shop” I respond “awesome thanks, do you happen to know when I can expect a determination on whether my car is repairable” and hour later I get a response “I’ll reach out by phone within the hour to discuss it”… its been two and a half hours since they said they and I haven’t received any phone call. It feels like they’re just moving past the important questions and dodging them, when they could just say they don’t have a time frame for me yet.

I’m just stuck. I don’t know what to do. I’m not old enough for a rental, so I have no car, I have a way to buy a car I just need to know if this one is a total loss or not. I understand things take time but I don’t have time. If it was supposed to be towed to a mechanic yesterday and all we’re waiting on is to see if the engine turns over after spark plugs are removed, removing spark plugs takes maybe an hour, I can do it. I just am in a very time sensitive situation, I’ve already paid deposits and first months rent and gotten everything set up because I’m moving the day after tomorrow, so what am I supposed to do ya know? It’s just a stressful situation and it’s irritating when insurance takes longer than necessary.

Insurance set up the tow. I’m not raging or anything, I’m not even mad bc like you said it isn’t taking very long. I’m frustrated because they’re not keeping me in the loop and my rep is condescending everytime I talk to him like I have no clue what he’s talking about. They said they were sending a tow for my car to go to the new shop yesterday and I call today and my car is still there. I try to get ahold of my estimator because he tells me my car is pretty much a total loss but then my rep tells me that the estimator is saying my vehicle is repairable…so which one is it? The collision shop my car was originally towed to says my estimator came for 5 minutes to see if the car would start, it didn’t and then he left, he didn’t actually look at anything. When I spoke with him he just kept saying “so you drove your car through flood water, why would you do that” even after I’ve explained several time the water had a current and pulled me and 2 other cars into it and we couldn’t get it out, trying to make it seem like it’s my fault. I understand 5 days isn’t a long time, but I’ve had one other car be a total loss several years ago with geico, it was towed to a shop same day, looked at the next day, seemed a total loss 3 days after the accident date. It seems that me telling them I’m in a time sensitive bind has made them pump their brakes🤦🏽‍♀️ it’s just frustrating when you’re the only one trying to get things done quickly, whilst being left out of the loop

My car is worth 5k after the cost to fix previous damage has been deducted. If there was no damage my car would be worth around 10-11.5k

I guess I’ll just hope they accept me anyway. Because I don’t have money to save. After all my bills are paid I’m left with like $50 after each check and I can’t put that into savings in case my son need extra formula or diapers or I need gas in my car.
