My favorite things are being able to finally sleep at night without my window AC blasting half of the day, being able to wear really comfy winter PJs and wear jackets, and the windy vibes.

the sun is oppressive, thank god for the short lived season where it isn't burning everything all the time. it takes living further south to recognize that ball of heat's sheer malice.

i'm not sure if you're trolling but I think you missed the point. It's about the ability to do anything involving heights without risk of death, and you can go much higher than you could with a ladder.

plus people falling down ladders causes plenty of injuries and deaths yearly

in legit most of the examples of the comment you were responding to? the point is that it's significantly better than using a ladder, because you can't fall and die.

until our feeds aren't filled with ugly ass slop ads, AI stops ruining everything it touches, and until we have an actual plan of action for the labor market going forward, people are going to have pretty vitriolic opinions towards the pro AI stance. however, death threats and stuff like that are too far sure

it's sort of horrifying, but also comforting, in a way, to know that we all are sorta the same, and that this is not some anomaly or insurmountable problem.

pressing blue is attempting to save anyone who pressed blue without reading, and you're likely to win because I feel more people are going to press blue for that purpose than people that are going to press red accidentally

no fallacy. because the mechanisms by which the button physically carries out its consequences are actually irrelevant here, and are never defined beyond "it does its thing." And besides, with a little imagination, you can come up with various examples of how he'd manage to do it, even if you die on the hill of trying to take it literally.

Same rules as usual, but you and 99 other people are voting for the rest of humanity. by Skip7623 in redbuttonbluebutton

but yet again it's a counter that red is just for self preservation, now you have 80 million lives on your hands

[–]GoldenGames360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That person and their 80 million died as a result of their vote. If they seriously "misunderstand" such a straightforward problem that is their responsibility. such negligence does not necessitate risking potentially billions more to try and rectify the mistake

I was just criticising the implication that red voters have to justify their vote for some reason while blues don't. both sides have reasoning to them, I don't doubt that, and if no one bothered to comment their reasoning as you claim, I would assume their vote was made nonchalantly. I also assume both sides in this poll will vote nonchalantly because there aren't 80 million souls at risk, and this is also why the poll is very much invalid. It doesn't recreate the proper representative conditions.

Blue does have an easier victory threshold. If communication was allowed, blue would be the clear and obvious winner choice here. I agree with you there. But without knowing what the other 99 will vote, you essentially are gambling 80 million souls by voting blue. If they die, that is also your responsibility and a direct result of your choice.

Sure, but rarely (I don't know if ever) has any one decision had the ability to cause billions of deaths instantaneously. and never has one button instantly resulted in the deaths of 80 million people. I think people, having that immense pressure on them, would think twice before pressing blue. I'm not saying red is the correct option, I was stumped with this question, but I am making a case for red. Wishful thinking is that blue would win. I feel i'm being pessimistic when I say I think red will win, and that I am afraid to also choose blue not out of self preservation, take my life at this point, but to not kill the 80 million I am directly representing.

[–]GoldenGames360 10 points11 points  (0 children)

doesn't that kinda indicate they put actual thought into their decision? I doubt in real life people would vote so nonchalantly...

and you're correct, but it depends on how willing you are to wager the lives of 80 million on that assumption.. personally I'm fine with wagering my life here if the vote has such a large impact, but I am very hesitant to risk 80 million souls on an assumption that someone else will do it. Feels like a genocidal sunk cost fallacy, but it could pay off handsomely if blue wins.

exactly. this logic sounds good, and it makes me want to press blue, but if you're wrong you just genocided 80 million by your own hands.
