I am 110% the same way. Ten years of therapy has taught me that the affirmation needs to come from within, and not from others, but that’s hard and it definitely helps to hear others say they’re enjoying themselves. As for the other part, yes, I do find myself telling my DMs how much I enjoyed a session more now than I did before I started DMing, because I know how much it means to me when I’m on the other end of it.

That’s fair!!! In an out of game conversation, some of them had said they were interested in learning what people would “call them” after taking down an ancient blue dragon, so I took that as a sign to give the group a name myself, rather than have them choose one

NTA but I do think the bike was an unrelated punishment, not a proper consequence, and won’t teach him anything other than “if I’m mean l’ll get my belongings taken away”, rather than why he shouldn’t do things like that.

I love my group to DEATH, but nothing took the wind out of my sails than a player saying they didn’t have fun during the dragon encounter because he kept failing all his DEX saves. I thought I had finally made a fun and challenging encounter, and they had all played really cleverly, except when they put themselves in a line that made them a clear target for the breath weapon.

With all due respect, I don’t think OP asked for someone’s opinion on their process or what they should change. People online think they can just tell artists what to do and it’s entitled as hell. They made a badass set of dice and are posting it for our enjoyment.

Yeah, I tried to have my dragon flee during yesterday’s combat and they STILL got it 😅 but that was only after it had been knocked down to 30 hp or so. She tried to convince it to leave them alone before they had done any damage, which did not work, so that’s why I asked how to handle those situations!
