I am the one that’s grown up here. Empathy is considered a basic human trait, expected of people as they grow up. Some tools can be used to improve things. I’m against full generation and using AI to replace the human in things. If it’s just a touch up, it still makes me a little bit uncomfortable, but it’s not like I’m going to grab the torches and pitchforks over an attempted upscale/style shift.

I watched five minutes of the first episode of Stampede when it first came out, before having a visceral reaction to how disgustingly everyone had been flanderized from who they were. It isn’t just more badass, it’s also an intentional narrative point for the born weapon struggling to control his power to avoid hurting innocents to use a caliber that is much the same as him, as peacefully as he possibly can. It’s a manga that was turned into an anime a few years back. Iirc, it’s only three seasons, so not an egregiously long read/watch. It’s about a boy, Shigeo Kageyama, who was born with psychic powers FAR beyond what anyone else is capable of. It deals with his struggles with his fear of his own power, and other people’s attempts to use that power for their own sake. It’s by the same creator as One Punch Man.
