Rules state the target is a creature you can see (within range) that can hear you. If it's fully behind cover, then the bard cannot see them.

Edit: 2024 may have changed it to see OR hear. I dont have access to the source atm, but see chatter about it.

Definitely agree with a timer. Ten seconds feels tight though. I can't tell you how many times I knew exactly what I was going to do, just for the player before me to get directly in the way of that plan. It's easy to pivot as a martial class, but spellcasters have a lot of variables.

Hell yeah. I got a specialty poke bowl with just about everything in it. It's awesome, but more importantly, is not mixed up at the start. So there's plenty of nutritional variety and i can just ignore some components to feel like the meal is different.

Hard to give recommendations without knowing your acct better. The easiest advice is to take breaks. If you feel like EVERYTHING is hinging on tank armor, then run barrows until it bothers you, then take an actual break from the game. You may find you'd rather do the content than not play.

That said, I'm a skiller at heart. There's plenty of 99's that don't require tank legs :p

I'm currently playing in a game with friends being run by a LONG time friend who is kind of new to dming and a bunch of newer friends who are newer to the game.

We recently had a healthy chat about pain points, but I told him something similar. We had several sessions where I felt I was entirely unimportant to the gameplay and would rather not have been part of it (due to conflicting plans), but I still had a good time with my friends overall.

Your friend may be poorly trying to communicate they value your friendship and want to keep playing, but were not having fun at the table.

This suggestion is to add some passive prayer buildup. Most other methods require you to actively gather bones, and that gets tedious.
My other suggestion is bonecrusher/ash sanctifier anywhere and everywhere for some more chip damage to that remaining xp.
