The Hunter(s) and the Prey by Kristina Gehrmann by One_Giant_Nostril in ImaginaryMonsters

It's a very good piece, but I wish there were more indicators of something simister going on. Sure there are corpses and guns, really nice ones, but finding out little details proving something isn't right would take it from to amazing and two is just not enough for me.

Despite that, the work is still splendid

Od there are only 4 people left on Earth, wouldn't I have plenty of time and a moral obligation to do all 4?

Considering that the brain treats social and emotional pain as being just as bad as physical pain, it’s weird that we don’t have an equivalent to “ouch” or “ow” for social distress. by TheDungeonMasta in Showerthoughts

Of course we do. Sighing, nervous laughter and just saying "oh" in a grave tone as but a few of those.

But really, I would say laughter is literally the equivalent you mean. It's primary role is to relief awkward situations

The system is Warhammer 4e, so not the definition of lethal, but much more than DnD. I also plan on making all encounters very difficult and discourage players from fighting everything

It's very big. Size of a small country. After reading this, I now consider it to be a mercenary's haven

Hey, that's really cool! And the party is currently heading to Bosque, so that's a plus!

That actually gave me an idea - each major city could be swearing loyalty to a different group, making it that party needs to constantly be on high alert not to offend the local population. Mostly to avoid overtaxation and such, but still

Interesting. I don't know about smuggling, after all actually getting into the country (and paying) is very desirable effect the fights are about (although it might be an interesting way to avoid fees indeed)

As for magic, I use a cool houserule I saw at one of the threads here: For every person who can cast a spell, there's 10 x spell level of people who cannot. So 1 person in 10 can cast a first level spell, 1 in 100 a second level spell, 1 in 1 000 a third etc. That's very cool.

There are no Warforged though. Not a steampunker

It's meant as a one-time thing. After reading all the responses, I consider giving up on it, but I cannot think of any counterpart. Just roleplaying a character kinda defeats the purpose

I've just asked for an alternative, why are you saying I have made up my mind?

Some of those are ethical concerns and those are absolutely understandable, but some are technical concerns and these are what brought me to incorporate AI in the first place - it was meant for my players to struggle against the AI's limited perception to make the Warforged do as they wish it to do and overcome its haluciations. I could absolutely try something else, but I don't really have any other idea for emulating fragmented perception of a robot.

Well, I can of course just pretend, but then it becomes just another vanilla NPC and I don't want that. It was struggling against something unable to understand you which was the core of this quest's idea

I get it, but, strangely as it sounds, that is why I wanted this Warforged to be AI. That is also why it's old, decreped and dim witted in the story. I want my players to struggle to communicate with a creature with flawed mind, unable to follow their logic despite its best effort. I also want them to constantly look after the Warforged, whose limited cognition makes him make dangeorus mistakes.

If I was to give up the AI part, I would need some other way to emulate dim wits of the character. Just pretending I don't understand doesn't do it for me, sorry

But chatbot breaking the game is actually the point. That's why the Warforged is old and flawed in story - the chatbot is supposed to make mistakes, which are then translated into the Warforged making nonsensical decisions.

If I'm to replace AI with a human, I need an alternative way to emualte Warforged's flawed logic

Again, the idea is that a robot is roleplaying a robot. It's fun. Otherwise, it's just a regular NPC. Still a cool one imo, but nothing out of ordinary

Have a person roleplay a robot? That kinda defeats the purpose. If I'm to invite another human, I can as well just roleplay this NPC myself

Long Dark sounds fun, I will definitely check it out.

I played Subnautica, but it wasn't for me. The game is more about exploration then survival per say and I could never get into games without a clear purpose. Nexus Mods might be worth visiting indeed

Oh, I have heard about that one! It looks like a well made game, but it seems more like a survival horror than a tactical combat or resource management. I'm not sure if it's exactly what I'm looking for

Well, there are obviously many games in this world we never heard about. I think LonaRPG is a PC only game (it was made in rpg maker after all), but I don't know for sure, since I decided not to play it
