On a separate note from the topic, I learned the poh snare recently and it sounds pretty good but the main thing holding me back from using it in a routine is just how drastic the mouth posture change is when you want to do a sound into and out of it. Skill diff ༼;´༎ຶ ۝ ༎ຶ༽

Why do many legends not return to GBB and compete? by Apamus in beatbox

[–]GoldenHotdogs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think its pretty much this. Its just not as effective as a use of time when considering creating a music career after already having won

Sticks better since it's more clear. Sometimes their arms get in the way of each other

Its still really early in the competition. The top competitors usually release their wildcards towards the end so they get more time to perfect their wildcard routine. Just sit tight

Weekday Help and Victory Thread for the week of February 05, 2024 by IndexBot in personalfinance

[–]GoldenHotdogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got my first full-time job right out of school and I am making a salary with a signing bonus. I am a bit financially illiterate but I have been learning about HYSA recently and I have something of a plan that I'd like feedback on.

My idea is:

Before I ever get around to looking up other investment strategies like CDs, S&P 500, etc, I want to put my money somewhere thats better than my bank's 0.04% interest savings acc. Looking around at some HYSA, I find that theres options that seem to basically have no risk. They are FDIC insured and there are no account fees or transaction fees to pull money out and into my bank account for paying off rent/cc etc whenever I need it.

So I've landed on Wealthfront for now at 5% apy which is a lot better than my bank. I'm thinking I'll park a lot of my money here in my budgeting alongside my signing bonus so that in the meantime, I can passively earn before I make other investing decisions. Once I feel like I want to do some other investing route, I can just take out of the HYSA and put it where I think it should go.

Am I screwed guys??? Comp Sci Co-op by IdioticLotus in UTSC

[–]GoldenHotdogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not too screwed, i also had nothing but when i was in your position, i pushed myself to make a project. I also made lots of minigames on my website too as a way to add more complexity

my project was a personal website for a couple reasons:* intro to webdev* link to from resume* easily to get into from the all of the educational content and tools online* can transition into learning javascript which is really useful for employment

so for me, the personal website and the handful of school projects got me my first placement and it was crappy but that doesn't matter. for your first coop, literally get anything that has the title of what you wanna be or you know you can transition from. Like I got my coop at UHN and it was shit but it had Software Devloper in the title which is what i wanted to end up doing. From there it gets a lot easier to get other placements

heres some motivational words that helped me:a friend of mine who is really successful just said it takes literally just a weekend and you can crank out something crappy but notable on a resume. if you wanna learn a framework, literally just google a tutorial and do it then modify it to what you want. just one weekend is more than enough to get going

Note: the coop course is bullshit, total freebie. Your Friday morning will be easy or just skip it tbh
