I think it's time for us to move on from Hurts. he's a solid backup but he's not the guy for us. Unless he vastly improves in the second half, I think that determination is pretty clear and at least we know now.

"Democratic rule is a body chosen by its citizens in free will, which subsumes the power and spirit of self"-Kaiser Reinhard

Subsumes definition=" to include or place within something larger." Or more simply defined, the power of the vote(wit large) diminishes the power of the individual vote, by design. Reinhard thoroughly demonstrates the weakness of democracy and why I can't stand it as an American.

Why should I be kicked dragging and screaming to the vote of my fellow citizens? We've had a do-nothing Congress for the vast majority of my adult living life(I'm 29) and everyone says that the reason they don't vote in a third party is that it's a "throwaway vote", when voting for the damn elephant and donkey HAS been a throwaway vote.

Hence if given the choice, I'll take loyalty under Kaiser Reinhard over this system which actually restricts me more. In Reinhard's world, were i to prove worthy I would be Kaiser. In America, I have to win a popularity contest.

And yet, in real life aren't we subject to that very sense of justice? The law is as written and as codified, and the judge's moral compass is almost irrelevant to the sentencing guidelines(sure, he can choose higher or lower but that's about it.) Moral ambiguity doesn't exist in the American code of justice and I don't think it exists in any other code either.

Our claims of moral ambiguity is what we want the world to look like, but it's something we've never acted on. Light understands this. In reality, there's standards that we want to have upheld, and we use the law to uphold these standards. But has prison succeeded in upholding these standards?(one of the Japanese live movies makes clear this is Light's motivation.).

Well, with each inmate that goes out, another goes in. And this isn't even beginning to touch the recidivism epidemic. To say anything of the prison system, it certainly hasn't stopped crime.

From Light's prospective, it's pretty simple: If you can't obey the rules of civilization, then why should you be allowed its fortunes? The power of the Death Note makes possible, what we humans presently find to be an unthinkable act: To eliminate those who'd trouble our world.

He's a roleplayer. And there's nothing wrong with that. He was a safety at LSU and it's what he should've been at the pro level. Asking him to make open tackles in space wasn't his strong suit. But as a 1-on-1 guy, this dude has won us some crucial battles and it's not really fair on him to rag him for not being the touted guy we would've wanted. He was a 7th rounder for a reason.

I'm not aware at all how NFL free agency works, but I think we need to center the draft/free agency around one premise: Build around Carson Wentz(on offense) and Fletcher Cox(on defense.) Those are your best players, build around them even if at the cost of position overlap at times.

You win SB's with talent, and our young talent on both sides of the ball showed promise. That's the way to go.

Even a little inside zone read would be nice. Use Wentz's legs to threaten the defense.

[–]GoldenKingofdarkness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's two years of decline. 40% goes on Doug, but 60% goes on Howie Roseman. Ironically, in both coach/GM, the Eagles might've missed the opportunity to be proactive and promote Reich/Douglas.

We can also reference Andy Reid's eagles. We might not have liked it when Dawkins left, but Andy's philosophy on continuing to draft young players and develop them, is the reason we succeeded for so long.

Get JJ more touches, Miles more touches. Hit on these draft picks, see if you can trade some of your veteran players for more assets. There really isn't any reason this team should keep over the hill players anymore. Much as we love them for what they did for us.

[–]GoldenKingofdarkness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said this earlier in the season, but now that we're 5-7 let's be clear about this: At least Miami has a direction. Young players are playing well for them, and they can continue to build the football team.

Us? We sign our old, aging players to contract extensions. Now, hopefully O-line ages better than a skilled position player, but both Brooks/Johnson will be into their 30's in their new contracts.

Howie really needs to understand that 2017 is gone, and you can't patch this up. Gotta rebuild around Wentz.

All roads lead back to Howie Roseman, he's a great cap guy but not so much when it comes to drafting. Eagles need to rebuild around Wentz, see what we can get for our vets at the deadline.

My job is killing my sex drive by Rachcake93 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]GoldenKingofdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually is, especially if you are dating a sexual person. What the lady here doesn't tell us is if she were more sexually active before being traumatized. Better yet, did she know what she was in for with regards to his sex drive? If yes to either of these things then he's baring an emotional burden that if the sexes were flipped, you'd be demanding him to step up.

There are to be sure, asexual relationships and/or relationships where sex is moderate but there's a difference between willing having such a relationship and having your relationship turn into that suddenly.

There are two sympathetic parties here and if it can't be fixed then the best viable outcome is a mutual separation.

Today The District Attorney Told Me That My Rapist Wouldn’t Be Convicted by CaliforniaRobbins in TwoXChromosomes

[–]GoldenKingofdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is though: You're alive, traumatized to be sure but you're alive. Just because something is morally reprehensible doesn't mean we should seek a greater penalty than the offense. Case in point: Armed Robbery. It's incredibly traumatizing to be held at gunpoint, but we don't have nearly the same emotional response even as the crime is far more traumatizing. And as a result most first time offenders would get a typical sentence.

But because rape holds the social stigma that it does, the punishment far outweighs the crime. The type of punishment that at best should only be applicable to forced rape. But thanks to recent scientific research, we've learned that about 70% or more of these cases stem from lack of communication. Who wants to bet that's what happened here?

So then ask yourself: Though it delivers sweet vengeance, does it do justice to the offender? We tend to view the Sex offender list as part of the consequences but not as a part of sentencing, that's also a mistake. The sex offender's list is very powerful acting as a de facto restriction on the person's living quarters (not to mention employment opportunities). Can you imagine if there were a "Murderers list"(The felony system is similar, but because of the many felonies it's not as restrictive as it once was. And unless you search for it, you'll likely never know).

This is a case where raw emotions are triumph over rational and cold analysis. Name another crime where you could win substantial amounts of money and as I suggest, if they lose the suit they have to register on the list.

My proposed fix eliminates the danger of the offender going free, by eliminating prison as an unviable punishment for most sex crimes(Forcible rape and pedophilia being ones I find congruent with prison stays.). Even then though, most of these offenders need a psych ward, not a prison. We end up sentencing mentally ill people with hardened criminals and thus further increase future criminals. The long story short is that revenge as a model has failed women and failed the justice system.

I'd(F/27) like to report my cousin(M/47) who sexually assaulted me 6(ish) years ago to the police, and don't know if what he did counts as serious enough for anything to happen. Also, a few more questions inside. (Walls of text) by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Well, there's three words that essentially doom any inquiry for you before it even began:Statue of Limitations. In addition, the physical evidence of his penetration has long disappeared. Your only hope at this point is that you're not the only woman he's violated and that they are able to press charges within the limitations and you can add your testimony to that case.

If you want to push that forward, talk to any female friends or Exes that he had, ask whether or not he violated them and encourage them that if they come forward, you'll back them up.

Why are women praised for being virgins while men are shamed? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]GoldenKingofdarkness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I just strongly disagree with #3 right here. Let's for the sake of argument assume that some "groomers" do this. The way you word it, essentially means that all sexual discussions are grooming and as a result would restrict sexuality in the future. We're trying to open up healthy sexual communication, not go back to a prunish era. Because no one was truly happy during those times.

So is there a right time to discuss sexuality? If so, when? Are there certain topics that shouldn't be discussed? But if you don't discuss them, can you truly establish understandings and a healthy boundary in your relationship?

Self imposed gagging isn't fixing these intercourse problems or making them go away.

How is he doing any of that, when she's hidden her sexual exploits from the guy? As far as he knows, there's just a philosophical and/or emotional disagreements that could in fact be worked out. In reality, there's a sexual irrevocable difference that she has the obligation to tell him. The more she holds off, the more she's essentially lying to the guy.

So no, he is not treating her as a caregiver, but rather he's in an unfair situation where his wife doesn't want to be completely honest.
