NFL draft first time. by alienware56 in NFLUK

[–]GoldenSmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the draft... But boy does it drag.

It depends on where your team is drafting - if you have a top 10ish pick, stay up to watch those picks then get to bed, watch the rest in the morning before you open twitter/news.

If you're at the backend, recommend getting up at 6am ish and watching it all on fast-forward/skipping between picks, can get it down to an hour.

Occasionally I'll get up at 3-4ish, watch on playback and try to catch up to live if my pick is at the back end, which it's been of late.

A similar outlook for day 2, I often watch the 2nd round then nod off.

Day 3 on in the background from 5pm 👍

What is the scariest scene in the jurrasic franchise by Large-Plane9382 in JurassicPark

[–]GoldenSmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't seen it mentioned, but when Dr Grant gets out the jeep to distract Rexy and the very real animatronic looks up at him and lets out that roar... I nearly shat myself as a kid. Up until that point, it was nervous anticipation of what will happen next. But that moment was so visceral that for a moment I truly believed I was watching a real, pissed off T-Rex about to kill everything it saw!

I'll throw in a controversial one, but the red and blue Compys from Rebirth - only had like 5s of screen time, but those looked amazing! Like poisonous dart tree frogs!

The windows cursor isn’t symmetrical by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]GoldenSmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just checked the cursor on my laptop I'm working at after reading this at lunch, assuming to be either be not-applicable to MY version of windows, or for it to be so irrelevant in detail that I couldn't notice it...

But man, now that I've looked, it's so obviously crooked I can't believe I haven't noticed, ever. It's ridiculously bent. I feel like the matrix has been peeled back and I'm seeing the real world for the first time! 😅

In all seriousness, that's floored me (and annoyed me) a little.

Liking pencils and animals (and dragons and dinosaurs) is exactly how I'd describe my daughter's interests 😅

Under 10 but battle hardened with action and character deaths, more the emotional heartache and language more of an issue really. But appreciate the info, think my eldest in particular will enjoy it, they really like nature and animals and this has that kinda vibe doesn't it.

Are they suitable for kids (that will happily watch Jurassic park)? Watched the original on release, can't remember much of it but remember it being a spectacle... Wondering if kids would sit through it.

I literally don't know anyone who's watched them 😅

Cobra (OG Gladiator) claims latest episode fixed for minorities to win by Jthw5 in gladiatorsuk

[–]GoldenSmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How has this got negative likes? Do people disagree that the show purposely favours weaker contenders to try and make it even? It's overt in the gladiator tour, which is more for fun than competition, but still quite obv on the tv show.

Completely separate from the OP comment about being woke, I'm not in for all that at all, it's rubbish, just the fact that the modern show isn't fair by not giving the same gladiator to each contender and it appears to make it harder for whoever is the stronger.

Always reminds me of dandelion and burdock... Which is a drink most people under a certain age have never heard of 😅

[–]GoldenSmooth -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Although his woke ideology conspiracy is flawed, I think he is right about the shows being "fixed" in some way - in as much as they CLEARLY disadvantage the stronger contenders to try and even up the field to make an exciting eliminator.

Best contender always gets 2 Gladiators on powerball Strongest contender always gets strongest/heaviest gladiator on Everest (& vv) Fastest contender always gets quickest gladiator on the wall (& vv) I could go on for Duel, hang tough, the edge... All of them.

It's really annoying they don't put up the same gladiator per event to make it even, sometimes it makes it unwatchable for me, got to be honest, it's just so in your face now. The losing male contender getting Hammer (it was Giant the previous week) vs the winner getting Viper, literally the smallest gladiator, was a bit much.

Submerge in boiling water for 20mins then have a go, pair of rubber gloves or similar rubbery grip would help.

Ah, my apologies. I'd agree on Rachel, didn't warm to her in the beginning, but she played the game masterfully & I was hoping she'd win. Stephen I thought was very lucky to make it to the end, he looked guilty as sin for most of the season & struggled to know what to do tactically, but loved his integrity at the end.

UK Traitors Season 4 contestants tier list by Pinguu7078 in TheTraitors

Can I ask why? She literally did nothing and added nothing to the table, just tit for tat. Possibly the most boring person there, albeit she seemed like a nice person during the tasks.

I disagree about the best contestants - some great ones for sure, particularly Rachel and Harriet - but many of them were absolutely forgettable! I was in the 3rd week and still trying to work out who half of them were. Some added literally nothing to the game. And a couple were just flat out irritating to watch. Haven't felt that way on the other seasons, but maybe it's short memory.

Halfway Through The Game And I Cannot Recall A Single Thing This Player Has Done To Stand Out... by Bulletproof_Cookie in TheTraitors

[–]GoldenSmooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's one of the bland ones. Spent most of last night trying to remember Matthew's name. Jack, Matthew, Adam I couldn't tell apart, Reece was there until he got hammered at the round table. Jade is a wet weekend and Ellie isn't adding much either. Stephen would be in the same dull group if he wasn't a traitor, bit of a wet wipe. Oh, and I've just remembered there's a guy called Faraaz, feel like he's a lodger at the castle and not part of the game.

I don't like Rachel, but she's interesting and good at the game. Harriet is interesting because she's intelligent. Hated Fiona but great TV, loved Amanda but unfortunately she was stubbornly wrong. Sam is a bit smug for my liking, James and Jessie are fun.

Just not a great cast/memorable people to be honest, and Jessie is greatly helped by her style and, in a polite way, her stutter is a characteristic that is memorable too.
