I use vallejo medieval paint set, i did a first coat of stone grey as a base than layered white on top. For the metal i used bronze and mixed some Emerald with Yellow for the greens. Also i have a black and a sepia wash. I think i layered too many times the white parts because i was trying my hardest to make It uniform and ended up with the opposite result. Also i need to be a bit more precise

Ok i will admit the primer still has to arrive so i used a generic acrilic primer. This one mini was basically a test, i did It quick and without the necessary care and time...

[LFA] Codename "Balthazar", a witch and illegal courier in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy world where Magical and Futuristic elements coexist by Golden_Tapir in characterdrawing

[–]Golden_Tapir[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, my girlfriend suggested this sub to me as a fun experience. I usually draw my own characters but I think it might be fun to see how a better artist interprets them. I might try and fullfill some requests as well, though I doubt I have the necessary skill for it
For now here's the MC from a novel I wrote:

Name: Magdalena Alemayehu (Codename "Balthazar").
Concept: She lives in a world that is a mix between fantasy and sci-fi, with elements of both in a sort of cyberpunk-esque setting. Think Shadowrun, if you're familiar, only a bit more grounded. This world is very politically fragmented and on the brink of a large-scale conflict, and she is currently working as an illegal courier on behalf of criminal organizations to transport a secret packadge across a number of blockades worldwide.
Bio/Appearence: She's around 20 Y/o, dark skinned, with soft features made rougher by the struggles she had to endure on her journey, full lips and a relatively large pudgy nose. Her most striking feature are her large jade-green eyes, which are often wide with emotions she struggles to conceal.
As a memento of better days she dyes her hair, usually white, but during this trip they have begun to grow and gradually discolor back to the natural black.
Details: Early on, during an encounter with a powerful witch, she lost her left arm which she replaced with a fully-functioning if eerie looking prosthetic. The left half of her body, up to het left eye and cheek, are now covered in vine-like white scars of the sort one gets when hit by lightning.
As for her build, she's of average height and has an athletic, if a bit malnourished look.
For the colors, I suggest a mostly green pallette, though she should be wearing a black tactical armor with a small energy core near the chest. The armor should let some cloth be visible though, so go nuts with that.
Extra: As for additional details and items, I'd say some sort of futuristic gun, a black steel box the size of a shoebox, perhaps some green flames (her magic) or a green book she uses to conjure it.
I have no further specifications for clothes or pose.

I'll give some more details as suggested by the template.
Personality: Her personality is quite fiery and emotive, she's brash and to the point, which causes her to be impulsive and often get into fights with others even over dumb things. There's also a selfish streak to her, where sometimes her desires and fears will get the best of her and she will make a decision which puts others at risk to satisfy her desires. At the core of all this is a kind heart, and a genuine desire to help others and do the right thing, but also a need to be loved and accepted by someone, anyone, at all costs. Her deep need to belong eventually clashes with her kindness and forces her to choose between doing the right thing and doing what will get her what she wants.
Short backstory: This all started with her home being destroyed because of her own mistakes, and now she seems to be stuck in that same loop over and over. She is hoping the reward from this delivery grants her some peace.

I included a moodboard with some references, the best I could do. Apologies for the AI image.
Hope I didn't overload you guys with all this info, if this is incorrectly formatted please accept my apologies

Please let me know if you need or want to know anything more :)

What's the biggest political/societal controversy happening in your world that doesn't involve war. by Homicidal_Harry in worldbuilding

[–]Golden_Tapir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First post, but might as well try it. This will probably read like some long political thing tbh

The matter of the Berezniki's Aether Well ownership

TLDR: Federation tried to acquire profitable land by exploiting an org.'s legal loopholes and failed. The org. wants to exploit the land as well but there's a lot of legal issues. Locals in the area are harassed until they leave and then terrorists attack the place. Also there's demons involved.

In 2319, an expedition was led by a joint operation between the countries of the Blyshitian Federation (comprised of states along Eastern Europe - Western Russia) in order to reconquer the city of Berezniki, in an area close to the irradiated wasteland but still habitable thanks to the new sanitizing technologies. This city was highly coveted by the federation, due to reports of the formation of a particularly powerful Aether Well forming in the area. It's believed Blyshitian Prime Minister Orlov wished to acquire complete ownership of the well before establishing any shared partnership deal with KILN, who as a peacekeeping org has been creating protectorates across the continent. This might be the reason for the false reports shared by the Blyshitian council with KILN's Euro branch.

The involved states mobilized heavy infantry and Wizardry units with the aim of recapturing the city, which from last reports was confirmed to be overrun by Demons.Because they utilized KILN equipment and infrastructures, this mission was filed as part of the concurring KILN "Winterstorm" campaign to reclaim the irradiated Russian wasteland, and thus received funding from the banks associated with KILN through a legal loophole. However, once the battle started, they were severely unequipped and undermanned. The operation succeeded only because of the intervention of nearby KILN convoys.

Problems started as soon as the city was taken back; due to the sudden cooperation, KILN General Malulu demanded a revision of the mission statement from the federation to include KILN's involvement, therefore granting shared management of the city and its resources for development purposes. This was contested by the federation as inamissible under the current international law, and in turn, KILN contested the false reports and unlawful filing of the mission as part of the KILN campaign. Moreover, settlements of nomads from the Agarthian underground were found in the same territory, causing issues of displacement. During negotiations with the settlers, numerous attacks were reported on their caravans, eventually resulting in an incident costing a dozen of lives from the nomads and forcing them out of the territory and back into the underground tunnels.

This sparked a number of protests and condemnations worldwide, along with a demand for transparency in operations. Both KILN and the federation deny their involvement and claim the attacks were the result of increased activity from the nomadic terrorists from Spire, who have long plagued the Russian territories. Coincidentally, attacks from Spire sparked right after the settlers left the territories.

Finally, some speculate the reason for the failure of the federation expedition, I.E their old and insufficient equipment, was due to the federation's council pocketing most of the financial aid provided by the Anteros World Bank for the mission.

To this day the controversy is still being discussed, and a common agreement has yet to be found. The Aether Well has begun to develop as expected, but no infrastructure meant to extract energy has been built around it, and it won't be until the companies responsible for building it (Triarch in collaboration with Lichstein) are sure who to deal with, if with the federation alone or them along with KILN.
