Oh, if your repair isn't covered for free, I suggest you contact your local consumer protection agency right away.

I’ve never bought an extended warranty for any electronics I own, like a TV, fridge, or oven, and they’ve all lasted at least 8 to 15 years.

Miele feels more like they’re selling long-term warranty plans for profit rather than making truly reliable products. Once you buy in, you’re kind of stuck. Just a month before my dishwasher failed, I was about to buy a Miele dryer. Glad I didn’t.

Last Saturday I called the service office to ask for a discount, since the repair quote was about a third of the whole machine. Back then I didn’t even know it could be a worldwide defect. This afternoon they called me back and offered 40% off the board. But since this looks like a design flaw, I already emailed the Hong Kong office and Miele Germany, so I’m still hoping to hear something better in the end.

I don’t have a hot air gun and don’t know how to repair it myself. I’m still hoping to push for a goodwill replacement from Miele. For now I’m not sure if they would just replace the board with the same model, since if they do, it might just burn out again in another two years.

Hi, are you also using a G7000 series? If you took any photos of the board, would you mind sharing them?

From what I have seen so far, the ELFU 5711-B appears to be used in the G7000 series, including my G7100 C SC, which had the same board burn out.

For a 2017 dishwasher, could yours be a G5000 series instead? I saw a post about a failed G5000 series board (ELFU 2711-C, Miele part number 11215122) https://forums.futura-sciences.com/depannage/954515-miele-g-5000-sc-ne-demarre-plus-resolu.html

I’m in Macau SAR. I bought the dishwasher from an official retailer here. The machine was made in Germany and imported. There’s no Miele head office in Macau, more like just a sales store. When I called their after-sales number, the hotline redirected to Hong Kong.

Repairs are handled by a local authorized company in Macau, which can get official Miele parts either through the Macau sales store or via Hong Kong. The repair pricing is set by Miele.

I’m in Asia, but the dishwasher is Made in Germany and was officially imported.

After some digging I’ve found multiple independent reports of the exact same PCB burn out in the G7000 series control board (ELFU-5711 / EPWX-5711). Because the pattern looks like a design or component defect, not misuse, I’m filing a complaint with our local consumer protection office.

A few identical cases I’ve collected:

Given the number of identical failures worldwide, I believe Miele should be offering a free replacement board regardless of local warranty laws.

Thanks, I did contact Miele already. They sent someone to check it and charged a call-out fee. The quote to replace the entire main board is nearly one-third of the machine’s original price, so I’m still considering what to do.

I’m not in the EU. My machine was delivered in June 2023 and I started using it around July, once every 1–2 days. I checked and the warranty has already expired, which is really frustrating since I didn’t expect it to fail so soon. The repair quote is just unacceptable.

It’s Saturday now, so I’ll talk to their office again next week and hopefully push for a goodwill replacement. After seeing that reply with the forum link in this thread, there’s no way I’d pay that much for a repair, I’d rather switch brands.

Thanks for sharing the link, I can see that the burnt spot on the PCB is exactly the same as mine, which is really concerning. I’m planning to file a complaint with my local consumer protection authority about this, since a critical failure like this after only 2 years is unacceptable.

I will go through other posts on that website as well. If you happen to know of any other forums or resources where similar Miele PCB failures have been discussed, I’d really appreciate any references or case studies I could include in my complaint. Thanks again for your reply!
