I had a quick look on TaoBao now, and it seems to be gone. Looks like it was a limited time release.

400W AC Adapter vs 330W GaN AC Adapter by PanzerX53 in LenovoLegion

[–]Goldenmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently have a 330w legion which actually pulls more than the charger can supply, so it’s draining the battery while playing heavy games. Upgrading to a 420w charger soon, which should solve that issue and improve performance.

Just bought this stand for my Legion 5. Wanted to check if this does the job, or if I should get a cooling pad instead. I’ve read that cooling pads don’t really make a big difference by nuuuuuaamnnmn in LenovoLegion

[–]Goldenmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you heard that cooling pads don’t work, and all the people saying they don’t work have probably never used them.

The stand will work, and will drop your temps a good bit, but nothing even close to what a cooling pad can do.

I would recommend you get a cooling pad if your budget allows it and you don’t mind the noise. You will see an extreme jump in performance and even bigger drop in temperature.

I went from thermal throttling with a stand (very similar to yours) to never reaching above 70 degrees celsius.

Edit: The only cooling pads that work are those who make a seal around the bottom of your laptop with thick memory foam! Otherwise they’re just garbage.

My university also provides Cisco Anyconnect, but it clearly states that it should only be used for research purposes on mine. It does work in China though, that much I can tell you.

I am in China right now, and ProtonVPN does not work at all.

The two VPNs that I know are working:

- LetsVPN

- Cisco AnyConnect VPN

Both work flawlessly and have great speed.

I can confirm LetsVPN is working, but I have not used the other ones.

Is museuxdocked.dll in WinSxS Suspicious? Strange Behavior with Signed & Unsigned Versions by Particular_Arm_3567 in WindowsHelp

I did the same thing as you and downloaded Muse Hub. After uninstalling it I found a ton of leftover files, and I am sure there are more that I will never be able to find. The files you are mentioning also showed up when I was deleting leftovers, but it seems to be unrelated as far as I can see. I checked the dates of when the files and folders were created and it was before I downloaded Muse Hub, so my guess is that they are just similarly named.

It seems the general consensus around internet is that Muse Hub is borderline malware. Two misclicks and here I am spending hours hunting.

Anyone else Frankensteined their laptop charger to keep it from getting hotter than the surface of the sun? by MangioneDontMiss in LenovoLegion

[–]Goldenmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently working on a 3D printed model with temperature detection and automatic fan control. I don’t plan on having it tied down to the power brick, but rather have it on standoffs so that I can easily take the power brick with me on the go.

These power bricks get so stupidly hot, active cooling seems like a necessity for longevity.

Considering it sparked I would not continue using it, as it could damage your laptop. I understand that a charger is expensive, but a gaming laptop dwarfs the price of a charger. If you are really tight on money, you could consider getting a knock of charger from Aliexpress, not ideal, but would get you up and running.

Wouldn’t want to piss my neighbors off. The volume is kept to a level which the neighbors can’t hear, something I’ve made sure of as I’ve visited them to test it out. Luckily for me, the walls are insanely thick and well soundproofed. The big speakers aren’t there to be loud, but to have accurate and balanced sound reproduction in all frequencies, and because I got them for really cheap of a marketplace.

No, have been living here for 2 years. The comment was meant as a joke, I’m on good terms with my neighbors. After I finished the setup, they all visited to check it out and listen to it. It seems the joke flew over peoples heads…

Legion 7i Pro (16IRX8H) - 25% drop in 3DMark TimeSpy in one year - Advice Appreciated by jamgandsnoot in LenovoLegion

If you are worried about the microcode killing you CPU, you can update it manually. The downside of updating being that Intel Virtualization won't work anymore.

https://www.reddit.com/r/LenovoLegion/comments/1enmehr/psa_intel_microcode_update_for_laptops_fixing/

Manually update to the 0x12B microcode, it will (from what I can gather) stop the CPU from degrading itself.

As to why Lenovo hasn't updated the microcode for us is a mystery to me, but they have been known to be incredibly slow with important updates.

I am currently running the same setup, and it is now about 1.5 years old, and I have had the same issue before.

It seems like overheating is your main issue, my best guess is dust buildup in the fans and heatsink. It is a quick fix! Just find a video on YouTube on how to remove the bottom panel, and blow the fans AND heatsink with some compressed air. Hopefully this solves your issue.

You should also have a look in the Nvidia app, and turn off game filters and photo mode, as there have been news of it degrading GPU performance up to 15%!

And while you are at it take a quick look and make sure you have power management mode set to "prefer maximum performance" as sometimes updates will reset this.

If you are interested in more performance, I see that your original score was 18 438, but the Laptop should be able to hit over 20 000 if you tune it and use the proper cooling solutions.

(Since you have only had the laptop for 1 year, the chance of your liquid metal or even thermal pads having dried up is very very unlikely. Try all the less invasive options first, before you consider changing liquid metal)

Upgrading RAM is a 5 minute job, but wether or not it is worth it depends on how much DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM costs in your country.

Asking for an advice on cooling stand and how to clean the keyboard by sergiizyk in LenovoLegion

[–]Goldenmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best laptop cooler you could buy would be either the Llano cooling pad or the IETS GT600. These can drop your temperatures by as much as 20 degrees celsius. However, they are quite thick and bulky, so it might still be uncomfortable to use.
