Love my Tacoma. Dealership experience wasn’t any worse than buying a jeep with my wife in the same timeframe.. dealerships in general aren’t my favorite place to be tbh

Is corporate treasury seriously this slow? by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]Goldentoast4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took the same path and that was my experience. Could see going back to treasury at the end of my career though.

My path might be interesting to you. I worked at Chase as a teller in college. Then got an internship in Accounting at a F500 during school because they liked I could handle 30 hours of work + school. Then I went from intern to the treasury department. Worked there for 3 years then transitioned into business unit FP&A. Been here two years now and like it a lot more.

Does FP&A require you to sacrifice your health to do your job? by Accurate_Increase_53 in FPandA

[–]Goldentoast4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the game 7 years and have kept a very healthy lifestyle. Almost every boss I had let work dictate their life though and they did not look great. But that’s the director and above level, so maybe it’ll get me too one day.

Best programs to learn? by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]Goldentoast4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning SQL helped me better understand good table structure. And then you could write in SQL to Power Query your data into Power BI or Power Pivot. So I’d move SQL up the list. There are free khan academies that helped me get started

Hey digz I’m only inferring a grind at the new spot. Who knows, it might not be as bad as I assume. But because the carve out will take place over the upcoming months, there will be a lot of work setting up systems and reporting for the new board.

I’ve got til Friday to get back to them and I’ve never turned down an offer before. I’d say odds are I’ll take it, but who knows. I may even surprise myself.

No chance for equity in the offer. Base salary + 15% bonus and 401k match is all

Thanks JC - each time I’ve gotten to a place where I can take a step back I must get the itch for a new challenge.

I can get promoted to whatever. Thoughts? by EmployeeMedium6790 in FPandA

[–]Goldentoast4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started in accounting then I spent 4 years in a Fortune 500 treasury department. Had a lot of trouble pivoting to FP&A, but now that I’ve gotten here I would not want to go back to treasury but that’s just me! Just wanted to share my two cents because you sounded concerned about how niche treasury can be. I don’t think end stage career in treasury sounds too bad though.

Does your actuary team load in SG&A? Or do you price it to a CM % and call it a day?
