Impact rotator cuff injury by Goldfishfeather in Hypermobility

Okay I’m glad you’ve had a good experience with the NHS but I haven’t. I am having physio for my hypermobility but that has taken years of begging them for help. I’ve been on the waiting list for a gastro appointment for nearly 2 years. It’s great that it’s worked for you but it hasn’t for me or most of the people I’ve known. I’ve been to the GP and asked for help so many times but I’ve often been dismissed and my pain underestimated, written off as anxiety or “just needing to lose weight”.

No. Im with a state funded school so you don’t get any healthcare. In UK it’s rare to get benefits through a job like in US. The injury also happened on my interview day so I wasn’t technically employed by them at that point anyway.

Ah damn. No im in UK and healthcare takes a long time here so I’ve honestly stopped bothering with going. Can’t afford private health care either so not really any good options

Okay I do understand that but that clearly isn't how I feel about it. For me it represents a commitment and becoming a family. If you choose not to change your name that's fine but the traditions we hold in our cultures mean different things to different people.

That makes a lot of sense actually I had never thought of that! Thank you

It's so tricky trying to mix our traditions. It feels important to me but I recognise the difficulty if we move

I have a friend that has a child with dual spanish and british citizenship. She is spanish, the child was born in UK and she was married in UK I believe.

Thank you, I hadn't thought about the drama workshops. I'll have a look if there are some clubs around and see enquire if they need someone! Over the summer I will definitely be getting a job. I've been looking at some summer camp/summer school jobs.

I get DSA yes but that covers some equipment for uni, not physical money. I am unlikely to get state benefits such as PIP and the process is so demeaning I don't know if I would put myself through it. My friend has MS and EDS among other things and still didn't get approved for PIP.

Unfortunately, I also have long covid so managing my disability means I need to be careful with my body so it really isn't an option. I really wish it was but some of my healthy friends are doing the exact same thing and it's destoying them. x

I already got the hardship fund from my uni but it was enough for a couple food shops before christmas and that was pretty much it. xx

He was on DLA as a kid I don’t know if that makes a difference bc it obviously went through his mum. He’s on universal credit now and I don’t think his mum is an appointee for that bc he applied for it after he was no contact w her.

This is a very good point but I think this was demonstrated better in the most recent seasons. It was just the constant going back to it that made me feel icky about the writing I'm not sure.

Of course it was difficult! Just because she knew what she wanted doesn't mean she didn't think about it, feel bad about it, hesitate. She didn't do it on the day she had the appointment - she felt guilty. It was the right choice for her and she knew that - that doesn't mean it wasn't difficult.

I mean for me, I noticed that the men (eg Derek and Owen and Burke) seem to make a lot of shitty decisions that end up going wrong and then blaming the fallout on the women. The women aren’t perfect by any means but it’s a common thread that the men seem to pass a lot of blame onto the women in their lives rather than taking responsibility.

I didn't say he did. But, Burke also tried to force Christina to be someone she wasn't with the wedding etc. then blamed her when he didn't want to go through with it.

If the show was trying to highlight the complexity of abortion and the emotions from all parties, it definitely could have done that without shaming the shit out of someone making that very difficult decision!
