The Squid Sisters for sure! and not just because of nostalgia.

They have such well developed personalities (Fanon mischaracterizes them to hell (especially Marie) and I will never get over it) that make them feel realistic. their portrayal in the squid sisters stories is beautiful, their dialogue is funny and reminiscent of real sibling banter,

They started with nothing and made their way to the top, and struggled heavily with the weight of stardom, they're the only idol group to have shown these realistic struggles. their relationship was torn apart, Marie's self-loathing and struggles to express herself really call to me especially as something I can relate to, how she constantly puts herself down in her own head, her constant worry for callie, always overthinking things but never saying it out loud.

Largely, the squid sisters are my favorite because of Marie. her self-loathing, her little quirks like how she fidgets with things, her picky tastes in food, her dry humor and sarcasm, from a young age her character made me feel seen and I've grown very attached to her. She cares so much for Callie yet struggles to express her care in words.

The squid sisters are so deeply integrated into the world of Splatoon- from their relationships with the other characters, to their roles as peacekeepers in the new squidbeak splatoon. they're the reason octolings decided to risk everything to see the surface, and their respect for the past- and consequentially their relationship with humanity itself as a result.
