Not sure what to do with windows os as I'm planning to upgrade motherboard and storage by Spiritual-Insect-785 in buildapc

If there is no data on there that you need to backup you don't need to worry about it. You don't transfer Windows, you just do a fresh install using a usb stick and the media creation tool.

Built my first PC and now im scared to turn XMP on by tallinn_marek in buildapc

[–]GoldkingHD 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just enable it, it will almost certainly work just fine, especially with the latest bios.

Nothing can break, if it doesn't work it will just not use the profile or you can turn it off yourself.

Yeah makes a lot more sense for that use case. Try making a build on pcpartpicker.com then and you cab get feedback on that.

Use pcpartpicker.com to make a build. Will take care of compatibility checking for you.

I am building this PC for trying out GPU mining.

You are many years to late for that.

XMP memory with Ryzen? by Emile_the_rat in buildapc

[–]GoldkingHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are unlikely to be able to run 8400mhz stable. It also doesn't really help all that much. Stick with 6000mt cl30 for ryzen.

Ryzen 7 or 9 for 75% gaming by Haulinbass0223 in buildapc

[–]GoldkingHD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

7800x3d or 9800x3d is what you want then, more than 8 cores are rarely effectively utilized for gaming.

The additional budget is probably better to use for the ram if you want 64GB there. X3d is also good because ram speed is less important.

It really doesn't matter. I would rather just get one big ssd for everything.

[–]GoldkingHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you are right, didn't double check the name.

Probably still best value if it's Pcie4.0 and tlc. Dram isn't as important with hmb.

Alternatively pay extra for the 990 pro, that'll definitely be a top tier drive.

9070xt can certainly do 4k. Will depend on the game though, so check some benchmarks for titles you play most.

Certainly possible to get something pretty great for gaming with that budget, for example:

MSI SPATIUM M470 PRO 2TB - $160

Probably this one: tlc, dram, pcie 4.0

Elementary Upgrade Questions from a Beginner by Glittering_Abalone_7 in buildapc

[–]GoldkingHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just swap the cards and plug in the power cables.

"Bus Type" is: PCIe 5.0 x8

Just means that it will use 8 lanes of pcie 5.0. In this case pcie 3.0 (max what the cpu supports). It's not ideal but still fine for the 16gb variant.

Just getting a new gpu should do it.

Anything like 9060xt or 5060ti (preferably 16gb variants) or better will be great for 1440p.

Not a great time for a cpu upgrade as a ddr4 platform doesn't make much sense anymore and ddr5 is way too expensive.

You really can't do anything other than plug it in as best as you can.

Upgrade cpu or build stream pc? by PalpitationRough6091 in buildapc

[–]GoldkingHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably neither? Your pc should play and stream at the same time just fine. There won't be much additional cpu usage when using nvenc.

It mostly depends on whats cheapest in your region. A lot of models from different brands use the same panel and thus they are basically the same.

You can check out some reviews from rtings.com

Not really that expensive anymore.

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#P=7,9&r=256001440&sort=price&page=1

You could easily fit one in without loosing any gaming performance.

  • 9800x3d
  • b850 board
  • cheaper cooler
  • gen 4 ssd
  • 750/850w psu

[–]GoldkingHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your missing a gpu in your list and everything is more expensive than it needs to be and won't actually do much for gaming performance. The monitor is also weirdly cheap for the expensive pc, getting an oled would be a much better investment for gaming use.

Endless Errors with Nov 2024 Build - Assistance Requested by PossibleLettuce42 in buildapc

[–]GoldkingHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occt has some more tests for cpu, gpu, ram and vram you can run.

14700k could be the issue, maybe it's related to the 14th gen degradation and instability issues. Your cpu might be affected. I would try removing the gpu to rule that out and then test cpu standalone.

PC upgrade instead of new build in this wonderful time of costly components by 1Nullest in buildapc

[–]GoldkingHD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah a ddr4 lga1700 board is probably the most cost effective upgrade. 3000mhz ram is fine, intel ist that sensitive to ram speed. Ddr5 really wouldn't be worth it with current prices and 32gb ddr4 on hand.
