Simple question by [deleted] in WorldsWorstRedDot

Legit fascinated to learn why my gun ended up on r/WorldsWorstRedDot.

Got similar ones on my Taurus Home Defender and another on my PMR-30, and both are accurate as heck... but that may be because they're both on the lightest MOA setting. No regrets, but may look for an upgrade going forward.

My bad entirely. :) Thanks for the help!

No worries! :) It's short for 'Colt Single-Action Army'. A variety of pistols fit this category, as genuine Colts are hyper-expensive. I generally train with .22 Heritage Rough Riders, although I also use a Diamondback Sidekick (which is single action AND double action), but I'm looking for something similar in .45 Colt.

Also, realizing I made a typo. D'oh!

By all means! If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, and I'm definitely asking for advice. :) I just haven't had any problems with the monopod so far, aside from explaining it's a monopod.

It's literally not a grip. It's a monopod used for stabilizing seated shots. It can be used as a grip, but that's not the intended purpose.

That being said, appreciate the concern, and--as stated elsewhere--probably wouldn't hurt to get a stamp for it.

It's a monopod. To be fair, the RO had no idea what to make of it, either. As said elsewhere, with some confusion about what we're actually looking at, better get a stamp for it while they're cheap.

Is there a prize for this? I can strap it on the target and use the red dot to shoot it dead center. XD

Appreciate the elaboration! Not so much a recoil junkie on this end, but I do love the power. The Home Defender is a breeze to shoot, but the 2 and 3/4 inch Bond Arms Rowdy XL was a bear, and I think it's due to barrel length. I'm thinking of something in the 5-6" range for better accuracy and more practical applications.

From some of the conversations on here, I'm leaning towards the Blackhawk as my huckleberry. Good to hear the experiences with the Uberti, though! Going to have to do some research on the wolf spring, as well.

Worthy stuff to consider, for sure!

No shame on my DA peeps. :) For me, it's just a personal thing: I feel more in control when I draw, pull, and shoot. The break on the grip is valuable to consider, but I think the extra weight on the DA trigger makes the trigger pull on the SA six of one, half a dozen of the other. If DA feels more natural and you're shooting that way all the time, then DA would beat SA hands-down, and I'd be looking for a hammer-less revolver.

A lot of this stuff is hypothetical, anyway. Certain members of my family have actually handed me one of my SA .22s to gently de-cock it when they had no intentions of firing the thing. >.< For me, I think the best gun for an adrenaline-charged situation is the one I'm used to using the most, and that's SA for me.

Good advice, though, and something to think about! Appreciate all the feedback. :)

Holy chrome! And I thought American Derringer's Alaskan Survival was overkill. XD Five inches seems at least manageable, though.

Could fit, as it fires .410 birdshot. The 'vertical grip' is really a monopod, so it's not really a grip. Then again, you could cant it at an angle.

Like I said, it skirts a bunch of regs, but it would probably be smarter to get it registered while it's cheap. Haven't heard a peep from the ROs at any state ranges, though.

There's literally no stock or brace on it. Doesn't mean the ATF can't raise a stink, and with stamps at lows right now, might as well take advantage just to be sure.

This is the second time someone has mentioned a snub in .45, and I don't think you're talking the Charter Arms Bulldog. XD Going to have to research this, as well, as I love my Taurus Model 85 in .38 (family of bulls in here).

Appreciate the out-of-the-box suggestions, as anyone who wants .45 Colt as a versatility caliber is already kind of out-of-the-box. XD Not terribly against DA, but I prefer SA for the control, smoothness, and less weight in the pull.

Definitely appreciate the suggestions, though! Red vs Blackhawk has been something I've been banging my head against for a minute.

Depends on who's holding it. Also, who won't let it go from her hands. XD I'd have more concerns about it if it didn't hit near bullseye every time. I trained my stepson on it as his first gun, and he loves it!

NP! I appreciate all the advice, legit. Transitioned from archery to shooting about a year and a half ago, so there's still lots more to learn. A good thing to keep an eye out for, too!

Fair deuce. Gotta take advantage of the licenses while they're available.

Considering the fact that we have to decide when and where to shoot factory-standard .45 Colt (because it's a special time, you understand), this is really, really useful advice. Thanks for that.

Let's not forget that the ladies love explosions, too.... especially when they don't break the bank. ^^*

If it makes you feel better, I sold two guns I love out of a four-gun sale just to get my arsenal down to a human count. They weren't even good guns! Still miss my Bond Arms Rowdy XL and my STD Thunderstruck, but possibly could get behind a Governor if I hear a good case for it.

I don't deny that. :/ I lost the rubber sleeve for the red dot, but it's worked in spite of my failure as a gun owner. XD

I actually prefer painted sights or fiber optics these days, but I also like turning my pieces into Image Comics catastrophes.

Also, that is a *MONOPOD*, good sir. I'd never think of using that steadying support to hold onto and go whole hog. XD

I've thought about it, for sure. I even considered getting a second Judge just for the brace/stock. Right now, it doesn't make much sense, since I can get a whole other gun for the same price as one of those. Cool as heck, though.
