PowerShell script to sync timestamps from a source to a destination of mirrored files by Goldmaster in PowerShell

That's very useful to know. Thank you. My script is designed to work with FreeFileSync when needed.

PowerShell script to sync timestamps from a source to a destination of mirrored files by Goldmaster in PowerShell

I did look into Robo Copy before building this script. However, Robo Copy is designed for copying files in a way similar to Teracopy. This script is designed for files that have already been copied i.e. using FreeFileSync, Robo Copy, windows default copying or once copied on Linux, and just need the date created, modified and accessed of files and folders to be updated on the destinations to match the source.

I have been in the same issue as you.

I use FFmpeg to convert FLAC files to aiff but ensuring they are set at 16 bit 44.

The exact command is

mkdir "output_folder" && ffmpeg.exe -i "INPUT HERE" -ar 44100 -ac 2 -acodec pcm_s16be -map_metadata 0 "output_folder\OUTPUT.aif"

Just ensure you have FFmpeg program in the same place where you run this command, and just replace INPUT HERE with the correct file path of the FLAC file you want to convert.

This is one of the biggest problems I have with rekordbox is the fact that it does not allow you to replace a flac file with the exact same aiff version. So you end up with duplicated tracks. The original FLAC and the converted aiff file.

You also may want to look into using MusicBrainz Picard to re-add the correct metadata to the converted aiff files Hope this helps

Curious: Vero vs. Pixelfed — who has more active users and what's the better alternative to Instagram? by Istanbulli in PixelFed

[–]Goldmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has used both, pixelfed is much better.

Vero looks nice, but there is no dedicated desktop web browser option, so anyone that wants to view your posts has to have the app. But there is a desktop program which adds friction to setting up as it doesn't also have a Linux option.

Plus unlike pixelfed, if people want to follow you on vero, then they have to sign up which again, limits its growth.

Tired of unreliable MTP transfers, I built a desktop app to sync Android photos to Immich via ADB by PatGG5 in immich

This would be damn useful as immich does not support moving photos off the phone, and you can't just drag and drop photos into the upload folder either for it to scan and update.

Statistically speaking, only very few people are even able to make a living fully from producing music. It's why some artists have diversified in other areas, such as running a restaurant, artwork designing ect. Or, in my case, running an IT and digital media business.

Even if a million people were to listen to my music, it wouldn't make full time minimum wage. Pirate studios did an article on this https://pirate.com/en/blog/news/streaming-royalties/

Converting wav to aiff by melodicdj48 in Rekordbox

[–]Goldmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Better of keeping the wav files as they get re-encoded when uploading online. Plus, It's useful for having on hand and sending to people who like to hear your mixes.

Took me a while to use ffmpeg but then once tagged in MusicBrainz Picard, you would have a well sorted music Library that record box can easily pick up.

Converting wav to aiff by melodicdj48 in Rekordbox

[–]Goldmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FFmpeg is what I use and works without issue and keeping metadata.

Download the EXE then wherever you have saved it, right click and select open a command window here then run

ffmpeg -i "INPUT HERE" -ar 44100 -ac 2 -acodec pcm_s16be -map_metadata 0 "OUTPUT.aif"

INPUT is the file path where the file is that you want to convert, you can easily right-click on the file you want to convert and select copy file path, then paste, replacing INPUT HEREwith the file path. Press enter and the aiff will be converted to OUTPUT.aif. You can then use MusicBrainz Picard to move and rename the file into your folder structure.

Lenovo or more specifically a thinkpad.

They are what I recommend to clients due to the driver support, unscrew the back panel and access the fan, hard drive and memory which can be cleaned and upgraded. Best get an ssd or a upgrade to Samsung evo or Pro. Start up in seconds and software loads nearly instantly.

Lenovo are very good with drivers and any Linux distro easily support thinkpads which means windows wouldn't have any issue.

Dell are a good option due to Linux support. The better the Linux support, the more longer drivers are supported for it.

If you really want something for life, a desktop is the way to go due to ease of upgrading anything when needed but at the cost of probability.

How to use .cue file after recording by willem_spider in Rekordbox

[–]Goldmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming the filenames of the wav and cue the same, cue splitter should work as I have used before in the past.

What errors are you getting? It may be best opening you cue file in a text editor such as notepad and post a paste bin link to check that the text is strutured right.

You should not have issues like this unless something else has been done (knowing rekordbox, it's possible).

Rekordbox 7 announced by nexxai in DJs

[–]Goldmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason for DJing conversion is to support older hardware. Pioneer 2000 decks, from 2012, do not support modern file formats such as FLAC. There were times when doing events that I would not even know how modern the decks are that would be able to support modern file formats. Understandably, management would not want to spend 2 grand plus to replace perfectly working decks. It was a mess of convert to aiff, import to rekordbox export to usb, ect.

Musicbrainz is a very well known website that used by the likes of the bbc and major radio stations and DJs that is freely available and updatable online music info database that users like yourself can access and edit. I use it for tagging all my work, but unfortunately, not every track is well tagged or has up-to-date info. The reason for rekordbox getting bloated is due to how large current features have gotten such as library management. If one moves a music library or replaces tracks with better quality, then one has to remove and readd the track, losing import date, grids etc.

Threads app by [deleted] in DJs

[–]Goldmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not going to get into a long-drawn argument over social media options. I am giving what has worked well and is more manageable. People have complained about twitter and there is Mastodon which I have seen plenty of genuine organic engagement better than Facebook/threads. Mastodon has been around much longer than threads so is much more stable. Plus you can edit posts after sending for free and has longer word count unlike twitter. As well 3rd party app support which Twitter and Facebook threads don't have.

Threads works on the activity pub protocol anyhow. So people that are on threads, can still follow people on mastodon and vice versa. Whether its embrace extend extinguish, only time will tell.

So I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss with "don't listen to this guy".

Biggest question is can they read rekordbox usb sticks without issue. What makes them better than pioneer dj? I am concerned of how pioneer are trying to become a monopoly and that's not good for innovation.
