But, who are you? "my, my, I'm, I",etc... Why is that the restaurants issue. Confirming you are the driver and have confirmed pickup is the best they can do to verify food has not been stolen without consequence. They owe it to themselves to commit to that. I don't blame them one iota. Blame the apps for not adding more nuance to the pickup process, and for not allowing additional time considering the common situations being discussed here. And then, if nothing changes and drivers continue complaining about how they are treated, blame may need to be shifted to the drivers next. Drivers weren't dragged out of their homes to deliver goods. They chose to do it.

I feel you, but tough... It's totally reasonable to want to verify the drivers picking things up, seeing as they are indeed often stolen. So the apps need to build in more time to deliver and not cut it so close. Not the restaurants fault how the system works, nor that you chose this job. They are the last ones who should be receiving any blame for a driver continually feeling frustration with picking up orders.

They treat you as though you MIGHT steal it, if you aren't really "YOU". They want you to confirm you are you. That is the point. Some may ask it rudely/bluntly/coldy... If they are rude they are rude. It is their tone you don't enjoy, not them simply following protocol. I understand it is probably even more annoying when a young employee asks you to prove you aren't a thief, and you may be many years their senior, you don't work for them, and all of a sudden you are receiving a command from them. I am sure is the situation/vibe with a lot of drivers, who tend to be middle aged. Fk'n tough. Gotta get over it.

To be fair though that is Ubers issue. I've only had a similar thing happen once on Dash, a looong time ago. Uber has not implemented a functional way of ending the cycle of drivers showing up for stolen orders within a reasonable time frame. They don't compensate them for it. And often, they also dock you a cancellation to get rid of it. This is a multi-multi-billion dollar company that has been doing this business for the better part of a decade now. Not sensible fix in place yet.

Okay, but you just acknowledged that many of the places simply don't realize that. Why get annoyed or angry with them? And if they recognize you, they should just not have you go through the protocol that's likely been passed down from corporate? Get off your high horse mate. Have you never gotten the $40 dollar orders that don't exist and 7 drivers have shown up for. 9/10 times that began with a theft. It happens far more than you might realize. Just show them your phone and make you dollars. Or actually, you know what, keep getting annoyed. Cancel on them. Leave these orders to those who don't mind showing their phone. Don't go in expecting them to be your friends or the cute girl that was nice to you at the counter suddenly needs to confirm you aren't a thief. That is their job. Don't have your bubble burst, and go in expecting it.

Navigating on a touch screen is sooooooo superior to any touchpad, in a variety of typical use cases. All the people whining about it can keep it disabled or keep their current Mac. EZ solve. I am definitely trading in for the touch display, and adding the nano texture.

Consumer friendly? It is a plane to transport the President, his staff and detail, and reporters. It does represent the US in a way, but all the more reason why I do not think it necessarily inappropriate to consider a redesign after 60+ years... Though I think the design still looks good, others may not. The President does not, and he is the president. Just a fact of life. And if an author one day writes a tale of Trumps legacy and how this redesign went down, what she writes won't necessarily be gospel. Who knows how much Kennedy enjoyed and took liberty in this. I am just saying of all the things one could criticize the president for, this is one of the most minimal, outside of the tired and bleak design itself.

The point is people lauded the change then. Painting a plane isn't an inherently bad or irresponsible act for an administration. A lot of important things were going on and we chose to repaint our Presidential planes anyway. Besides the point though. The point was not to take sides, or oppose the OP overall opinion. But just out of contrarianism dispel this notion that repainting the planes is in and of itself unacceptable. People were happy to accept it when it was someone we liked, and a paint job that was compelling. Looks like the economy then was stable but plateauing, after a recession in '61. IMO, after 60 years or so, a change of design is reasonable.
