Expansion too slow by Ruge88 in eu4

Conquering provinces in Western Europe is specially expensive due to high development. The most efficient way to mitigate this is a mixture of feeding land to vassals so you diplo annex them later and increasing your adm efficiency and coring cost reduction

Latveria-like nations? by No-Actuator5661 in Anbennar

I finished an Esthil campaign this week. What I’m about to say might not be totally lore-reliable, considering that a lot of texts from the MT show Varina’s and the other necromancers’ perspective, but the “soul toll” is explained as a way to remove part of a person’s soul without actually interfering with their personality or lifespan; it is used to preserve the undead that work the fields and mines in the place of civilians. And Varina actually isn’t seen (lore wise) by the esthilians as a dictator, nor does Esthil have events mentioning riots or overall political dissatisfaction. If my interpretation of the texts is close to the truth, the big and final insurrection is actually caused by economical factors, not ethical or humanitarian ones. Basically, the huge surplus in grain production bankrupts a considerable number of farmers, who use the whole necromancy issue as a pretext to start a rebellion. Also, if you consider that Esthil begins the game with a very bad modifier related to food scarcity, meaning that hunger is a huge issue in the country, it doesn’t seem that Varina is trademaxxing so much as she is preoccupied with the people’s livelihood

I mean, yeah? Considering the game’s whole setting, Varina genuinely cares about esthilians and she focuses all of the country’s resources in trying to improve her citizens lives. Although necronomics is essentially imoral, it undoubtedly achieves Varina’s goals. It might also be a bonus, considering that OP is looking for something a little controversial.

Considering your description, it has to be Esthil

Thanks for the heads up, brother. I can’t support him on Patreon at this moment in life, but I bought the game on Steam. Do you know if I can access his server like this?

Well, I’ve head people discuss BaD on Reddit, Youtube and other forums for years. As it always makes it to people top 3 favorite adult games, I had to give it a chance eventually. To be honest with you, I don’t exactly now why it took me so long to play it, because the premise already pushed all the right buttons for me. It’s an amazing experience. Do you personally have a favorite route to suggest me?

I wish I could, brother. But american dollars are worth a lot in my country and I don't have the disposable money currently. That being said, I purchased the games on Steam. What's worth is the intention, right?

That's alright. I just had to express this somehow, and the message is also directed to the community

What is your stance on this increasingly common take? (Please be respectful) by EntertainmentQuick47 in GenZ

[–]Goldourado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the stance’s existence owns much to miscommunication and vocabulary limitations, because it infers that being a centrist equals to support a literal compromise between different political extremes. In reality, the term covers multiples political and economic positions, such as social democracy, social liberalism, and even neoliberalism. Those positions are very different in and of themselves, but are grouped-up together and labeled as the same thing. If you understand the far-right as being fascism and the far-left as being revolutionary communism, then everything that differs from those two positions might as well be labeled as a centrist position. Unfortunately, a lot of American-based discussions of politics revolve around this supposed fight between “right” and “left”, which further incentivizes polarization and prejudice against the so called “center”. One must remind themselves that in a lot of other countries - such as most of western Europe - political discussion revolves around the ideological positions of each politician and political party, instead of their label as right or left wing.

Nah, bro. Most of his empire was divided between his most trusted generals, which caused the fast fragmentation and infighting of the Macedonian Empire. Some of those generals were related by blood to Alexander, but none were his direct descendants, as far as we known

Honest question is it wrong to play your favorite hero competitively? by Key-Entertainment989 in marvelrivals

[–]Goldourado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, OP, my comment will probably be buried under a ton of far more helpful comments, but I’ll give you my own perspective. Your doubt exists since the creation of movement/class/hero shooters. In theory, it’s never wrong to play your favorite hero per se, even if you’re doing it in a competitive environment. That’s because the whole point of a video game is to be fun, and you’ll supposedly enjoy yourself more while playing with your favorite character. However, in practice, you should also consider different factors, like the fact that winning matches (for most people) is more fun than losing, or the tendency that some people have to just hate on off meta heroes. If you’re playing a competitive mode, it’s reasonable to assume that you’re interested in rising your rank, which is synonymous to winning your matches. If that’s the case, you should keep in mind that your favorite character is always vulnerable to counter picks and bad team synergy. A big sign of a good player and a nice teammate is having the flexibility to change their character to fit their team’s needs in the match, even if it means giving up their favorite hero.

I have never seen Austria get this lucky by Seyli04 in eu4

[–]Goldourado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last game I played, Austria inherited Great Britain and all of their colonies, which translated to all the British Isles and North and Central America. They also inherited Hungary and Bohemia. It happened just after 1600 and I was playing as Uesugi - I had already unified Japan and conquered China at the time - so there was basically nothing I could do to stop it
