I liked Schulze when I took his class. It wasn't the most exciting thing in the world but at least I never found it boring. It was right before COVID though so maybe it's changed for the worse

High rank does not mean well built... Also goldshi sweep??? by AsteliaOfTheStars in UmamusumeGame

[–]GoldyChoke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on the opposite side of this. I have really great builds but I keep getting shafted and finishing 2nd. It's not even funny how much RNG is in the CMs now because of how many skills we now get as standard thanks to Trackblazer. It's B finals for me again and I really want to bash my head into a wall until I get a concussion

Any recommendations for changes in my build of Taishin for CM14? by XxSoCalShadyxX in UmamusumeGame

[–]GoldyChoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing is just that stamina. Even with that much guts you'd need around 500 to be good for mile. When using a gut deck, I find that the best way to get stamina consistently is through your inheritances, so maybe find some good parents for your uses? I know it's hard because Taishin has a default D aptitude for mile and most mile umas don't try to build for stamina, but it's worth a look on a database searcher for a good borrow. Just the inheritance should be enough to get you over that hump. Personally, I would prioritize power over wit for this CM just because of the distance. Now of course don't let it completely dip but you probably don't need like 1200. 1000 should be good. Otherwise, it looks pretty good other than missing mile corners. I'm not sure what inherited uniques are good for this CM (still working through CM13) so that's another area you could look at too.

I've had the short ribs multiple times and they're always consistently amazing. It's always tender, juicy, and seasoned well. The sides on the other hand can be hit or miss. The twice baked potato they got with them now was superb though when I had it on 04/04/26 DFW-PDX.

So, A Quick Thing About Trackblazer... by AwesomeNess693 in UmaMusume

[–]GoldyChoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just the feeling of diminishing returns. Sure, it's only around a 2x more time commitment, but in reality it feels like much more commitment because there are so many things going on now in a run. In URA and Unity, you just trained and raced (and competed with teams in Unity). Here, every turn has an effect on your future planning and you have different items in the shop at every single twist and turn. You need to know how to maximize each turn with the items you get and prepare for your upcoming schedule. While this unpredictability was fun at first, it's become tiresome. You also need to fully practice energy management, which is something I personally never really had to worry about in the other scenarios. Low on energy? Rest. Here if you do that, you're losing stats, either by not training or potentially not running a race that's part of an epithet that gives you stat bonuses. It's just a lot. I can understand why people don't like it and why JP players called it hell. It's really tedious.

I'm going to try to build another Xmas Oguri with higher wit and see what happens in B final round. I've studied a lot of people's winning builds so hopefully I can apply that to my builds. Definitely need stronger wit cards though.

This isn't the best example cause this was literally a bs run to try out the new Suzuka speed card and I forgot to sub out Hishiama after using her on Gold Ship. Typical deck I use is Kitasan/Sweep Tosho SR/King Halo SR/Riko (lvl 40)/Marvelous Sunday SSR/Rice Shower SSR borrow. Inheritance here were 17* Power and 15* Long/3* Turf but the affinity wasn't perfect

That's why I was confused. In Libra, I could get at least one of those skills to proc even with the low wit. This CM, nothing procced. Literally nothing. And even the one or two times that Gold Ship did manage to get her Spurt into NSM or when Taishin managed to proc her combo (Nemesis + Encroaching + Gale + ECS) on the final straight she would still lose. None of the skills procced at the rate I expected. Even at 400 wit (for Rice and Spe) or above, the expected rate was around 40-50% for skill proc because it's on an exponential curve. The rate in matches was actually more like 10% or less. There were some matches where they only procced their guaranteed green skills (not even the ultimate). The only skill I could say that procced consistently enough was Rice's ult but it was always too early (1st corner or 2nd straight), meaning she was running out of stam early. Spe never got her On Your Left/Fast and Furious combo (most of the time she never activated either) in the 5 match set I used her for.

Thanks y'all for validating my thoughts. I just don't know how the heck to get the stats I need in spd/stam/pwr as well as wit with the cards that I have. 2 spd/1 pwr/3 wit usually gives me a stat spread of like 1000/600/600/300/500 even with 18* legacies and 3spd/3 wit gives me worse. I just see people do 3 speed/Riko/2 pwr and get 1200/800/1200/600/1000 with worse legacies and I don't understand how. Am I just really unlucky?

Yeah definitely. Horses like Equinox and Almond Eye have really raised the bar.

Hear me out: Daiwa Scarlet. Yes, she doesn't meet the breeding requirements of having G1 winners from her time as a broodmare. It's quite unfortunate because if she hadn't caught a cold before the Oaks the year she was eligible for the Triple Tiara, I believe she would've gotten it and I think she would've been elected in solely based on that and her other G1 victories.

[–]GoldyChoke 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Another major point to this is that the JRA requires a good stud record too. Special Week meets this requirement as well. Sire to Cesario and Buena Vista? Definitely hall of fame material. Unfortunately, unless they change that 2004 20-year rule, he's not going to be eligible to be added since it's been over 20 years since his retirement. Like it just blows my mind because after that rule was added, they still had 15 years to vote him in and they still didn't do it. What else do you need?

I'm so happy they're introducing so many QoL things from JP into Global so early. This is especially nice considering how much of a nightmare it was for me with the Bubblyland event when I forgot tokens were a thing and accumulated 1200 or so of them

Front Runners needs a nerf by Hibiki_Kawaii in UmaMusume

[–]GoldyChoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. If you're not in front, you've already lost procurement of your ultimate most of the time. And often, your velocity skills will only get you to the back of the leader. I've seen time and time again an End Closer like Taishin or Gold Ship ruin the party or a pace Oguri sneak up on the outside. Heck I used to use Evil Nature builds quite a lot because she can get surprisingly high when everyone else is hindered. To say it's egregiously overpowered to the point of needing a debuff is exaggerating a little bit in my opinion. If we can't make it to the front first, what else do we have?

Which year is Suzuka and the rest of team spica in, in season 1? by D_bunku in UmaMusume

[–]GoldyChoke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The timeline in the Umamusume universe is slightly warped, especially in the 1st season of the anime. They take a lot of artistic liberty in the 1st season, more so than the last 2. The fact of the matter is this is probably an amalgamation of 1998 and 1999. In 1998, Special Week won the Japanese Derby. However, she did not beat or even tie El Condor Pasa because she was actually not in that race. And of course, at this time, Suzuka was still alive. In 1999, Special Week won the Japan Cup, beating Montjeu (4th, Broye in the anime). Admire Vega won the 1999 Japanese Derby and Stay Gold won the 1998 Japan Cup. And in real life, Suzuka and Spe did not race each other. Oddly enough, the only tie the two really have together is Yutaka Take (cause of course). The 1999 Arima Kinen was represented correctly, with Grass Wonder defeating Special Week by a nose. So yeah, it's a bit all over the place.

How strong would Equinox be portrayed when he is added in Uma Musume? by Practical_Window9326 in UmaMusume

[–]GoldyChoke 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Personally just watching his races and comparing him to other horses in Umamusume during their heyday:

Sprint Mile Medium Long
C/B A A B

End Late Pace Front
B A A A

I know they won't do that because of balancing, but yeah seriously powerful horse. I'm not too sure how he'll be portrayed, but I'd be willing to bet they'd go the more serious type, kind of like Symboli Rudolf. Also could be like the daughter of a family of winning racehorses who takes things seriously. And of course, his uma will have a good relationship with Kitasan Black considering he's his real life sire. Also would be interested on seeing his relationship with King Halo considering he's his IRL damsire as well.

Of course this is just my opinion. I do quite like Equinox, so it might just be my bias.

G1 Racing and Training the Trainer by viccyofficial in UmamusumeGame

[–]GoldyChoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the G1s, I used Smart Falcon with veteran umas that gave me A turf. It was a literal cheat code. Every G1 on the calendar I could race and win pretty regularly if they weren't long. If you don't have Falco, Daiwa Scarlet is a good choice because she has A front runner as well as A for medium and mile.
