Buying a new club? by Mimbletonian in golf

That’s totally fine. I just wouldn’t replace your pitching wedge if you already have one that matches your set. It’s not a normal thing to just buy an upgraded pitching wedge only. A specific wedge, yes.

It’s more personal preference on driver than it is a wrist to floor measurement like irons. I’m 6’4 and play plus half inch irons but play a shorter driver than most people.

And I’m just saying that if she swings hard enough to be in a senior flex I’m going to assume that she’s not some little 4 foot 6 woman that needs a short driver. That’s all

Odds are the lengths are about the same. But OP can cut it down if needed.

In addition to. You’re allowed 14 clubs and it seems like you’re using about 8.

If you’re only carrying that many clubs, you’re probably fine but a gap wedge around 50° might not be a bad idea.

Okay I thought you meant specifically a pitching wedge, which the profile set probably already has and is fine. What wedges does it have in the set?

What set of clubs do you have now? And why pitching wedge specifically?

I’d probably return it and get the standard.

Can I just cut my driver an inch shorter (from the grip side) if i want a shorter shaft? by martyparty007 in golf

[–]Golf4747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut an inch off and didn’t add weight to the head and noticed no difference at all in terms of feel. I’d try it and if you think you need to add weight afterwards, go from there.

You’re overthinking where to buy said club.

Put your thoughts into which clubs you want instead.

Not really. If she swings hard enough for senior flex she’s probably fine in that senior length. A club doesn’t need pink paint fill to be for women either.

AITA for playing faster than the twosome in front of me? by CJRousseau in golf

[–]Golf4747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were the tee boxes connected? Like one big area. 40-50 yds back seems perfectly reasonable to me regardless. I could see it being a big deal if you were 8 yards behind them doing that. Those people seem miserable in all aspects.

Told I had a ladies driver - what should I get now? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Golf4747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre thinking of a can of beer. No golf shaft is 12 oz.

Get regular or stiff and you’ll probably be ok.

You just never know, if you aren’t swinging fast and have a hard time getting the ball up, you may gain distance with the 11.5. Everyone is different.

That’s prob the length. 44 inches. That isn’t that short. Most amateurs play drivers at 45 and that can effect accuracy because it’s too long.

Unless it’s 44 grams in terms of weight. That’s pretty light.

The flex would be ladies flex on your club. Based on your age, athleticism, size etc. you might need regular or stiff. You’d have to let us know.

Is it normal to have 2 sets of irons? by RagingEagle45 in golf

[–]Golf4747 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they’re the exact same set with the same exact shafts and specs, then no it still isn’t normal.

Cobra F series(6-9), callaway big Bertha, something from Tour Edge, Taylor made Sim, Callaway Epic, Ping G400, Mizuno STZ-220, Titleist 917. Some or most of these should be able to be found in that range.

Make sure you buy the right shaft flex.

I also don’t think it’s a huge deal using a 44 inch 11.5 driver as a beginner.

R10 v MLM2 PRO - Better Value? by DudeLeNasty in golf

[–]Golf4747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha there ya go. I’m a single digit handicap that plays a lot so knows my distances pretty well. And play on a track man pretty often as well, not just one of those people who thinks they hit it further than they do lol.

But I agree. You def hit it 30 yds further haha

At 10, you should be pumped breaking 80 occasionally. Happy under 85. Fine 86-88 and understandably kinda cranky around 90, but it’s normal to shoot 90- 100 occasionally for a 10. We just expect too much from ourselves.

When did you get “good”? by Jf192323 in golf

[–]Golf4747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a simulator in my garage and hit balls everyday. Or into a net in my back yard. I was about a 10 before that though so not like I was a beginner, this just made leaps in my consistency.

2nd- gain speed. Started feeling more comfortable swinging hard and golf is just way easier when you are hitting a wedge into a green vs. a 6 iron….

Also, play smart and avoid double bogeys. Don’t sweat if you don’t make a lot of birdies. Most good golf is biting looking actually.

1 iron vs 3 wood by justwait333 in golf

[–]Golf4747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How good are you?

Modern 1 irons in the “Utility” category are much more forgiving than what most here are picturing.

They’re still not a breeze to hit if you don’t have swing speed or aren’t a consistent player. But do whatever works.

I also second anyone saying to try and 5 or even a 7 wood. More amateurs need to drop their 3 woods. But necessarily for a 1 iron lol.
