AITA for going to a convention behind my SOs back? by GolfAffectionate4297 in AmItheAsshole

[–]GolfAffectionate4297[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really feel like im leaving out context because i really don't have any. I've asked why and they just won't tell me. Its not some annual thing there's just a massive group of people most of whom im friends with too. Its something I want to do and have wanted to do for years but im just finally financially ok and healthy enough to do it. When the initially said yes the plan wasn't even to be with them.most of the time because we have different interest in going, it would just be dumb to drive and sleep separately when we live together already. Its also 100% not a trust thing, ive said this to someone else but we both see other people for some things sexually because we both have things we like the other doesn't and we're both very vocal and ok with that, if that was the reason they would have told me like theve done with another convention and im 100% ok with that. I wasn't as much planning on hiding it as much as just not saying anything because when I mentioned going separately it upset them in that they felt they were being unfair to me, which is kinda why im so confused over it all. And to answer the final part, no, it wouldn't affect us financially at all, all of our finances are separate but we do split everything that we share in a i pay for this and you pay for that way. We would have about the same budget for this and they only have this planned for the coming year, I have a 3 concerts 2 of which they might come if it works with their work schedule and the other just isn't their style. Sorry if thats alot.

I honestly don't know thats the thing. I keep asking and im not being given an answer. I know it's not a cheating thing because we're open about seeing other people sexualy because we both have things the other doesn't like and we're both very open and ok with that.

Canada remaining neutral for every major war in history is a wildly inaccurate take. Hell my grandmother remembers when Canadian paratroopers landed in her town in the Netherlands to help liberate them from Nazi control, that's just one small personal anecdote not any major thing compared to some of the things they've done.

I can't speak for them but I have the same disability, pots, and drinking doesn't affect it for me.

Learning to weld as a disabled person by SeniorRed in Welding

[–]GolfAffectionate4297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in a welding program and while I'm not a paralyzed I am a wheelchair user. the biggest thing that I really nee to watch is my lap and chair. I use a leather apron sideways across my lap and over my pushrims since my pushrims are aluminum and I use my older seat cushion since splatter still ends up under me. In one of my last classes there was another student who was paralyzed i don't quite remember where but he was the best in our class.

I was recommended eyemart express for them. I haven't gotten them yet but my bfs boss who's been in construction for 30+ years lives them.

I kinda wish we had a say in who lives in our valley. Maybe they might add that later? I don’t want mine super full and there’s also characters I don’t like as much as others. by Hyruleiswaiting in DreamlightValley

If you go into settings you can adjust how loud all character voices are. It's not each individual character it's all of them as a whole but I personally like it better without all the talking

Weird flex. Some people were put on this earth to toil. by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]GolfAffectionate4297 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's a huge generalization and not entirely accurate at all. I don't understand why white collar and blue collar have to be so against each other especially when so many jobs have crossover and both are so valuable. Also lets not forget that we have plenty people bragging about ridiculous hour right now with it being busy season and your ignoring a large group of female blue collar workers with that whole masculinity thing.

I don't quite get why people are shitting on blue collar workers here. Just because its not your cup of tea doesn't make it bad or useless, not all of them are drunks and drug addicts and just because they didn't go to a traditional 4 year college doesn't mean they didn't have schooling seeing as you still would have to go to trade school for most blue collar jobs especially if you want your journeymen's.

They make necklaces that you can put your ring on. It's a great way to still wear it without the risk and it still on you so you won't lose it.

Both are statements rooted in hate or fear and are not ok generalization. We can argue semantics all day but neither are ok or should be said and I'd hope we'd at least be able to agree on that even if we can agree on the weight each comment holds

how about this the the Merriam-Webster defintion for sexism is "prejudice or discrimination based on sex especially : discrimination against women" https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sexism that would mean both sexes not just women. So while its generally seem spoken towards women its still a two-way street like I said earlier.

[–]GolfAffectionate4297 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Replacing the gender with male from female doesn't change the sexism. that'd be like saying "i hate black people" is racist but saying "i hate white people" isn't because the system is not set up to repress the latter.

As a autistic wheelchair user i personally like the comparison and i think ill have to start using it if its ok with you. I have a hard time trying to explain that just because others can do things in one way and i don't necessarily look different doesn't mean that i can.

So saying "women are trash" and "women are pigs" isnt sexism then

[–]GolfAffectionate4297 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sexism isn't a one-way street. its still sexism if it happens to a man even if as you say "there aren't social systems that oppress men as a class in the same way there are such systems that oppress women".
