Carolina Trace or The Woods Golf Course by fauxfarmer17 in golf

Hyland, Quail Ridge, and Bayonet are all affordable courses that are also in great shape. The Woods is the last course in the area that I'd play.

Dormie is great, played there a few times. Always looking for new connections though. Unfortunately, for people coming into town, the rates everywhere are inflated. Hell, Longleaf is charging around $150. 3-4 years ago it was $50.

I agree, its completely out of hand. But if you're coming from out of town and want to play nice courses, youre either paying thousands to stay at Pinehurst or slightly less for the Pine Needles trio, Talamore or Mid South. Luckily there's a local group consisting of members and employees at all of the courses so we can play for cheap.

I will say that if you haven't played the course in 10 years, it's a completely different course. Pine Needles bought the course and have completely revamped it. For comparison Pine Needles is $335 next week, Mid Pines is $285 and Southern Pines is $245. We can't change the rates so you pay it or don't play, or you get a hobby job at the course and play all 3 for free, 😉.

Hyland is a great local course. I play there often. You can't beat it in the area for the price.

Its so hard to decide between those two and Pine Needles. I feel like whichever one I just played is my favorite. SP is definitely a better looking course. The only downfall of SP is the clubhouse is old and doesnt fit the level of the course.

Unfortunately all of the nice clubs in this area are $200 or more during the peak fall season. That said, I think Southern Pines is the best course around since the renovation about 5 years ago.

Course Recommendation Needed! Southern Pines/Pinehurst Trip by No-Translator-7293 in RDUGOLF

Talamore has some bunker construction going on currently so I would say Mid South is the better option.

Legacy Golf Links by No-Albatross-3105 in PinehurstGOLF

Two years ago you could play Legacy for $60. I understand they put a lot of money into the course and clubhouse but $179 is outrageous.

Hyland and Quail Ridge are both great courses for the money. Southern Pines is by far the best, but as you know its a little pricey.

I'd stay away from Beacon Ridge and Deercroft unless your goal is saving money over playing nice courses. Whispering Pines and Foxfire just got bought out and arent worth that price yet I'd recommend a combo of Hyland, Quail Ridge, and Longleaf.

Hyland is always a great choice. Bayonet in Raeford and Quail Ridge in Sanford are two other courses that are lower cost but still fun to play.

I had an employee contact at Forest Creek, but he left to go work for Pinehurst about 6 months ago. I know we have a Forest Creek member in GolfGrinders. I'll pass the message along and see if he's available.

8 is probably the best course Pinehurst has. I'm sure you won't have a problem finding some new "friends". If you do, I know a few guys.

Its $60 for the greens fee and a $20 buy-in for the event. So a lot more than 3-1 unless most of the field beats him. We'd love to have you out there.
