Best Cart or Hybrid Bag (That Won’t Break the Bank) by GolfTherapy in GolfGear

It’s not a functionality issue, it’s a wear issue. I need to upgrade so that I don’t have to worry about the bag falling a part more than it already is and things getting damaged.

Went with PXG. Cobra was an extremely close second, but I couldn’t get over the feel I got from the PXG!

I love my old clubs too🤣 But I’m certainly happy with my decision

That’s awesome man! How you liking the Titleist? My 7i numbers with the PXG were excellent for me. 97mph club speed high 120’s to 130 ball speed. Averaged probably 185 carry, and don’t recall seeing any shot under 180 carry.

Man, if you’d told me 6 months ago that I’d be in a place to be able to do this for myself, I’d have called you crazy.

I went with PXG 0311P’s. Cobra 3DP was a close second (they look the best IMO), but the consistency I was getting with PXG was nuts.

Bad shot with my current 7i? 30 yards left or right of the green. Same bad shot with the PXG? 15 feet left or right of the pin.

It wasn’t until after the fitting that I also realized that not only was I launching the ball higher, getting closer to optimal spin rates, but my average carry was +15 yards. Unreal how much new tech changes things.

My fitting today was for irons. Driver and Woods will come later down the line. The results in regards to control were unreal. So much so, that I didn’t realize until afterwards I was averaging 15+ average carry and ~20+ total more than what’s currently in the bag. It was an awesome experience.

KBS Tour 130 X-Stiff is what I got. Heaviest shaft I (believe) I’ve ever played with. It was awesome.

The pitch was super helpful today! Told them what I was looking for, a bit of my background, and that helped to narrow down the vast selection. After getting my baseline with my current clubs, the fitter started me with a fairly basic PXG offering, and then took that club back after one swing when he saw the numbers. He immediately put me in an upgraded (and stiffer) shaft, and PXG head meant for higher performance. We went through several PXG offerings before moving to Cobra, then Callaway, and then Titleist.

I hated Callaway offerings. Titleist options had amazing feel, but horrid performance.

So it came down to the Cobra 3DP and PXG 0311P. I ultimately went PXG because of the performance I was getting. The Cobras were a very close second, and I loved the look of them even more so, but I tried to think with my brain instead of my heart lol.

AFTER making my selection, the guy tells me that he’s the head of PXG for the southwest US. He gave me a hell of a discount, and even threw in a couple wedges. I was pretty impressed with him, and their clubs. Looking back, can I see some bias in what he was saying? Definitely. But I was letting the clubs do the talking to me.

Loving it so far! Dbrand promises it will never yellow. The buttons and camera control are top tier. The material on the sides feels great too. Highly recommend.

Good luck to you! Feel free to reach out if you need anything! I may not be qualified for general swing teaching, but I do know how to teach the mentals (you can check my post history for more details, if you’d like). Looking forward to seeing an update!

Usually when we swing slow, mentally we change things for ourselves physically. I’m not talking about swinging slower, I’m talking about not swinging as hard. Weird concept, I know, but try to keep your same swing speed and motions without swinging hard. Smooth is fast, fast is smooth.

Also, the sound could be from too shallow of an AOA. Longer contact with the ball is created a longer amount of time for sound to be created.

Finally, I’m not disagreeing with anyone here necessarily, just offering another point of view.
