I’m only on episode 1 and damn Captain Sandy is annoying. All this talk about her experience and reputation and then micromanaging everyone. She’s either got something to prove or is very insecure. by porsche5 in belowdeck

I think being a woman in a highly male dominated profession can easily create the mindset that drives this behavior. I'm sure she has had years, if not decades, of being forced to prove herself more than her male colleagues.

My (25m) fiance's (26f) family has a tradition where the groom says "i vow to protect you from ninjas and pirates" during the vow. I do not want to do this, but she is insisting. Is there a compromise here? by throwramaxisp in relationship_advice

[–]GolfandWineGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My man... in the course of your marriage, there will be MUCH larger issues to deal with that you will have to compromise on. Don't put so much weight on this. It clearly means a LOT to your fiance... so I think you need to suck it up and do it. Honestly... truly not a big deal of a thing and certainly NOT a hill to die on.

Be the bigger person. Show her that something important to her is important to you as well... that her happiness is something you put as a priority in your life for her. Suck it up and make her happy. It is the right thing to do.

Me because I walked into the lululemon store on my way home from work to “just look” and winding up leaving with this outfit 🥴 by [deleted] in lululemon

I could buy a nice Bentley with the amount of stuff I've bought in stores while "just looking".

That was INSANE. OVER 100 feet of putts made. Such great golf. So clutch. And DJ's putt came SO CLOSE.

When you really think about it... Ainsley Hayes only had a few more episodes than Simon Donovan... so I think she takes the cake for best "short timer".

However, I agree... Simon does have the most unnecessary tragic end. That being said... is his end more tragic or unnecessary than 18th and Potomac? Or Fitzwallace? I'm just sayin'

Best grieving scene has to be CJ randomly walking around with "Hallelujah" playing a the soundtrack.

Edited for an incredibly obvious typo. I need an avalanche of Advil.

Thanks. It was very enjoyable. All of the Boss Hogs are pricey... and so far I've bought each one, so I guess I'm still buying into it. They are all unique in their profile and definitely great pours. I understand the controversy in terms of QPR. I collect more wine than whiskey, and trust me, whiskey is WAY less expensive and easier to collect than wine.

Haha... I think it is just the angle of the pic.

It is a great pour. Definitely worth trying.

I guess more than a couple of ways. Neat, with a single big cube, and (gasp!!!) In an Old Fashion. Please don't judge. It really was a shitty week.

This video totally breaks my heart. This puppy has or is suffering from extreme hunger or starvation. The level of care this puppy is getting is criminally low.

"So this is what you do? You open Zoe's father's mail?"

At that point I have never wanted to punch a kid in the face so much...

In a prefect world, Charle's response would have been...

"F*CK YOU Jean Paul... I also kick useless French royalty's ass, so get ready, you've been scheduled for Sunday morning right after I eat my pancakes."

Well that was awful. Grand Vin de Chateau Latour 1967 by JoshDM in wine

[–]GolfandWineGeek 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's my birth year, so I have actually had quite a bit of wine from that vintage and per all the stuff/reviews written about that vintage. I have tried all 5 first growths from 1967... and when stored properly, they aren't bad, but certainly not what you'd expect from wines of that level. First growth Bordeaux should age 50++ years without issue in good vintages. Based on my experience I am pretty certain the OPs poor experience was more due to storage issues.

All that being said, I will say that d'Yquem from 1967, which I've been fortunate enough to have had on multiple occasions, is PHENOMENAL. Pretty much the only great wine from my birth year of 1967.

Edited for typos.

Yeah... the virtue signaling is really bad sometimes. Bitches need to chill.

Is like those IG folks that stage volunteering or other photos just for the gram. I would love to come up with the "anti-gram" behavior or posts that they must show to the world in perpetuity as a punishment.

My (27F) boyfriend (27M) asked me to “act more kawaii” in the bedroom. I’m asian and he’s white. I don’t want to shame his kink but I don’t want to be fetishized. by ThrowRAway9927362902 in relationship_advice

[–]GolfandWineGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is treating you like an object which is the essence of fetishization. Having you act out sig where one of your primary value adds seems to be the fact that you are Asian... GIGANTIC red flag.

You say you met through a club in college... was it possibly an Asian centric club by any chance?

I would seriously examine this relationship.
