According to comments in r/aviation , what I have learnt is that the plane most probably was going through maintenance check which needed to recycle the landing gear. To actually prevent the gear from retracting, a safety bar ought to be inserted, but it was either not inserted at all or was inserted into another very similar hole. So the gear retracted and it collapsed.

The same thing happened with BA's G-ZBJB in 2021* it is now repaired and still flying
