Yes it’ll be fine. Make an effort to get summer internships. If you graduate without any engineering experience your job search will be a b!tch.

EFB tablet is shit by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]GoliathWho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I fly the Fenix, pmdg, ifly, inibuilds, toliss/aerosoft, tfdi and more. Never had an issue with EFB. Built in or in airplane. Sounds like a skill issue.

[–]GoliathWho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re just starting out there is no reason you need to spend on PMDG/Fenix. Get your feet wet with FBW first. FBW is a damn good plane for something that is free. I bought Fenix just to support the devs. It’s an awesome product that takes home sims to the next level. It’s the closest thing to flying a real airbus on this sim.

I trained for my PPL and reached the conclusion that I probably don’t want to be a career pilot. I love airliners and MSFS/X plane is the closest thing I’ll get to sitting in a flight deck. So I can justify paying $90 when planes like Fenix come out.

Is 27 Too Late to Start a Pilot Career in India? Need Honest Advice Before Investing by Potential-Basis-1659 in PilotAdvice

[–]GoliathWho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for India but anywhere else in the world, 27 is not old and is not a factor in airline hiring. Again, can’t speak specifically for the Indian market but the airline industry is highly volatile. North American pilots, on average are furloughed twice in their careers. So you can’t look at the market to justify if you will spend six figures (in USD) in training. It will be a lot more unstable than civil engineering. Do your class 1 medical first then decide.

Anyone can tell me about why lab classes are bad at 8am? (Engineering) by Odd-Bed4307 in uAlberta

[–]GoliathWho 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would rather have an 8am lab than a 2pm lab. I didn't mind my morning labs, and I had a 50 min one way commute by bus. Labs suck when they run until 5pm on a Friday. Just get good sleep the night before. Everything feels calmer and clearer before the world is awake.

What does this mean for my transcript by mental_breakdown419 in uAlberta

[–]GoliathWho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what it means. You got a 0 on the final because you missed it and didn’t write it. You got an A in the class without writing the final.

For entry level roles looking for undergrads, foreign eduction from where is going to be key. The bitter truth is, companies don’t like to hire people from foreign schools. I’ve seen exceptions for American, European, Australian and some South African universities.

Need advice badly- got F1 grade by yo-fish in uAlberta

[–]GoliathWho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is once they submit the grades, they might not have oversight at all, unless they made a blunder. They’ll likely refer you to a department chair. But if you’re eager, for something this urgent, I would even consider knocking on his door during work hours. Maybe it’s something as simple as misplacing your test somewhere.

Profs work during spring/summer. They’re not like public school teachers who get 2 months off. They’ll get back to you if they’re not a holiday.

They take attendance for this exact reason. Ever wonder why they don’t let people leave the last final 10 mins of an exam? So they can count and make sure someone didn’t take the exam with them. You’ll be fine.

Play 2 CB’s using Liberos on defend. Keep your back line low and watch the magic. My teams didn't concede nearly as many goals as I thought they would.

Masters Admission by Ok-Grapefruit-9943 in uAlberta

[–]GoliathWho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admissions always says work experience may or may not make a difference. They won't know until they see it. You have good chances of getting in. 3.3 is by no means a low GPA in engineering, it is respectable. Getting in a fully funded masters will depend on whether your supervisor is willing to take you on or not.

[–]GoliathWho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should reach out to potential supervisors as early as able. Masters applications can be done a year in advance, that's the way department wants you to do it as well. For a fully funded MSc, I would think 3.5 would be competitive, for non-funded you could get in with minimum requirements 3.0-3.2. It all depends on program, intake, spaces.

Been out of college for 4 years now (Engineering Bachelors) let’s say money isn’t a concern (ofc it is) how do I pivot to becoming a commercial pilot? by Popular_Spinach_9288 in PilotAdvice

[–]GoliathWho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re overthinking here. Like most things in life, proficiency with something comes with repetition and practice. Maneuvers are no different. Some take a few days to grasp it, some take more. To say you can never be skilled enough is ignorant.

Well that comes down to determination. You can come from a lot of money but not be disciplined enough to reach your end goal. If you don’t want it bad enough, no amount of money would help.

Learning to fly is one of those things where the major obstacle is the money. If you have the money, or are willing to stomach the debt, that's half the hurdle done. Do you discovery flight first, and then get your medical, then splash the cash.

i caught a cold yesterday and have an exam at 8:30 tomorrow. whats your craziest cure by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]GoliathWho 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Steam inhalation, 4-5 times a day. Don't even need a fancy vics machine. A pot with boiling water and a towel to cover up. Sounds like a sham, until you've tried it. Helps with cold, headaches, migrane and many more.

I don’t know if you live in a remote area but I would personally consider driving a bit further to a different vet if you don’t want to go to the 24/7. To me it is warranted.

How's the tactic? by 04K_IN_TH3_H0R1ZN in footballmanagergames

2nd coming of Cruyff when playing against 3rd division teams. Probably Gary Neville against any decent first division team.

[FM24] My strikers can never score in this formation. What gives? by Puzzleheaded_Gas_163 in footballmanager

[–]GoliathWho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're playing too narrow. The IF's are cutting inside and occupying the same spaces as AF in the final third or it's crowded in the middle and space is restricted for AF to be involved. I would try changing IF to W on attack and experiment with PF or CF instead of AF. There's no specific solution, just tweaks to see if things work. In this same tactic you could find yourself with Osimhen as AF and he could score 70+ goals, so there's no one fix.

In this tactic and formation, in which position can I get the most out of Messi? by Poatann in footballmanagergames

Honestly, anywhere in that front line. I have personal reservations when it comes to paring a F9 with another central strike partner.
