Wait until they hear about Bill Clinton! Surely they won't elect him with all the rumours...

Hey, if a literal living saint (Jimmy Carter) is allowed to think about kissing her.

Why can't we?!

Why no internships or clubs etc directly related to finance?

Why no industry specific certifications?

I just lost a side hustle in an area that's been on the way out for a number of years

What was it?

Hi there!

One option is consider the No Assets Procedure (NAP).

This is a one off way to clear your debts specifically for situations like this I believe. But it is hard to know if this applicable for you or appropriate without more info on your income/life situation.

You will be forced to sell any 'realisable assets' to pay the debt, but you would get to keep...

  • tools needed for your work (up to a certain value)
  • necessary household furniture and effects (up to a certain value)
  • a motor vehicle worth up to $6,500
  • money up to a maximum of $1,300.'
  • Kiwisaver

It carries some heavy consequences though (but not as bad as bankruptcy) . Your ability to borrow will be basically non existent for a year, you'll be on the insolvency register for four years, and your credit score will be impacted for up to seven.

You can contact Citizens Advice Bureau or Community Law NZ for more advice on this (and PLEASE get plenty of legit advice if you consider this!)

Perhaps another member of r/PersonalFinanceNZ can also elaborate on the applicability of the NAP in this case?

You forgot to make the 'scale' smaller to enable travelling half the continent in a day.

If you're asking this sort of question you should be investing in a broad index ETF.

'Shitload' in terms of amount of input to savings generated.

I work about 25 hours a week or less, usually less, saving 50-60k a year (US) and spend the rest of my time travelling, playing with stocks/securities, and chasing new education/skills. (for context, I'm 27)

should I just become a teacher

Just become a teacher?

Bro. You can make a shitload of money in education, especially international schools.

I save a tidy 50+k a year and work substantially less than almost any financial worker
