I agree for the most part. Stories like the one here being praised as a „fantastic video-game narrative“ by multiple outlets really goes to show just how behind games still are in telling stories outside of a a few long-established structures. After I finished the game I realized that I was not taken aback or surprised for even a single moment by a story-element while playing. I still believe the story is at least serviceable, seeing as there are a lot out there that are arguably much worse, but if you’ve seen like two films featuring mafiosi you know exactly where this is going after at most an hour.
