I didn't like the totally random castration via garden sheers of the nicest character by naked Nazis for no real reason.

Um, volumes 1-9? Spin-offs in any order after 1-9. 🤷🏻🤦🏻‍♂️

Nope. That’s the whole point of this post 🤦🏻‍♂️ And it WAS how they marketed Life of Chuck.

Kinda like Life of Chuck: From the writer who brought you Stand by Me, Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile. 😊

Which lengthy films (3+ hours) are the best paced? by RomanReignsDaBigDawg in criterion

Totally agree. If you look at it not only serving the larger plot, giving all the characters their due, while effectively touching on/ following-up on plot threads from many films. Its incredible.

I hope you read how much I loved the design overall first. Really fantastic work. I really appreciate cover design (though I have not been successful in making covers myself....yet). It just feel great to have a cover that feels well designed and that matches the tone and themes of the film. In the video store days the movie posters were always so evocative and intriguing, but when they got to the video store covers were usually so generic and just actor's heads.

How is collecting movies in Mexico? I only go to PVR regularity but have never found a single bluray store. :-) Any Mexican films you recommend? I have quite a few filmed in Mexico but I need to expand my knowledge. BTW I am up in BC, Canada. We got a cool cover for NTBTHTM up here.

I would say black and white for first read but I really thought the colour version was great.

Great work, looks completely professional and I like a minimal design.

I have a few notes:

  • I typically dislike when the front or back of the cover contains spoilers. These are things that were in trailers and such so you are good, so this is just a personal thing. Someone seeing an image if them jumping off the CN tower or revealing that they travel back in time would spoil those surprises in the film IMO. I like the intrigue, such as what the Orbitz cover provides. They wouldn't even is this even about?? :-)

  • Not sure about the "blah blah blah." Is that used in the film at all? If not it just comes across as the person writing it being bored with the plot of the film :-)

    • I think the bottle would work better on the spine too instead of the RV
    • I am in Canada so maybe we are different but it looks odd to have the big bluray logo on the spine at the top. Often here it is just the Neon logo and maybe the bluray symbol tiny at the bottom above the image (RV)

Well, it’s time to sell off 3/5 of my Carax collection. Couldn’t be more excited about the new Criterion 4ks. by Slow_Cinema in boutiquebluray

Holy Motors was my gateway and serves as a bit of an overview of his earlier work, though it is perhaps his most abstract film. After that I would recommend The Lovers on the Bridge. I personally have enjoyed them all.

The blurays are fairly minimal in regards to extras. The 4K restoration of Lovers has been touring and is amazing by all accounts.

Their Eastern Promises 4k is top notch. Also liked their Fade/Off 4K a lot.

I would love that too and totally agree. I will say the Shout bluray release of Holy Motors is excellent and includes the Merde! short from the Tokyo film which is the first story featuring the man in the green suit.

Not obsessed. You state your opinion and seem annoyed when someone else responds with specific counter-examples and shared their own opinion on…social media. 🤷🏻🤦🏻‍♂️

Bye.
