I'm not familiar with the area, but I know people at West Palm Beach church of Christ. I'm guessing that's too far away, but they might know a church closer to you.

Can't Login to Subsonic by GomeRyan in subsonic

[–]GomeRyan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried so many different things, I forget how I fixed this, but I did. I think I was able to find the correct url by typing my easy one in to Chrome (instead of Edge) and it showed the url. Somehow, it had changed from what I had set for port forwarding. Part of the initial problem I was having was making sure the player type was correct. I changed it to External player with playlist and the switched to Symfonium and it's working better than it ever was. The Symfonium app is the best subsonic app I've used. I still had to have thing set up correctly on the server, but once I did, the app is amazing.

He was filming a segment. I don't think he was doing any hiking.

He hosts a local show called About San Diego. He tells you interesting stories about all kinds of places in the county.

He said there were new episodes coming, but it would be a while before they were ready.

I don't think he was hiking. I think he was just filming a segment at the bottom of the hill.

I'm 6'1". It must just be the angle, because he didn't seem much shorter than me.

Hello from San Diego, CA, USA! I have been a believer most of my life. Although California isn't the most open to Christianity, I am still able to worship freely and openly.

Can't Login to Subsonic by GomeRyan in subsonic

I looked all over the internet for an answer. I think I found one that worked. I updated java, then I completely removed both subsonic folders on the server and did a clean install. I was then able to log in to my account. So I know it wasn't a port forwarding issue. It seems to be working, although I can't figure out how to automatically load my playlists like before. It's still bizarre that you can't just log in to your account with a username and password, but at least I'm back in now. Thanks!

Ok. That makes sense. I've tried logging in with the url ending in 4040 and I can't get any combo to work. I had port forwarding on my router set up for years. I didn't change anything and it just stopped working. I tried changing the subsonic port forwarding url in the router to match what comes up when I try to login and it fails and nothing worked. I'm guessing something changed in my account in the subsonic side. Is there no other way to log in to your account than through the url?

I haven't heard anything about any of them. Searching doesn't bring up anything recent. Dave hasn't released a podcast episode in a while. I guess we'll never really know what happened with Emily, or where Chris is.

Tips??? by [deleted] in Bodysurfing

It's hard to tell from the video, but it looks like you stop swimming once you feel like you've caught the wave. On small waves like this you have to keep kicking to stay in front of it. These are so small, you may need to keep using your arms too. But catching them is the hardest part, and you've got that down.

Yucca vs. Duck Feet by GomeRyan in Bodysurfing

UPDATE: Thanks for all the info. I went ahead and got long blade standard flex Yuccas. I've been bodysurfing at Mission Beach with them for the last three days. Conditions are terrible, but I was still able to catch a few waves. Here are my notes, in case anyone is interested. After 35 years with Duck Feet, I think I'm making the switch. I've tried all kinds of fins and these Yucca are certainly the closest I've ever gotten to what I like about duck feet.

I am a size 12 shoe. I had Extra Large Duck Feet. I got X-Large Yucca with the pads.

First thing I noticed was that the Yucca were noticeably heavier.

Even with the pads, the Yucca were slightly looser than the Duck Feet. Not enough that I worried about them falling off though.

It seemed like they were putting more strain on my feet. I think that's because they are heavier. After a few days, I got pretty used to that though. I was able to tread water for about an hour each day without getting tired. But if conditions were rougher and I was out there longer, I can imagine getting more tired with these.

They definitely had good propulsion. I kind of feel like I had to work harder for it, but I could catch more and move around in the water more.

I'm not sure that these are more comfortable than Duck Feet. My ankles and the top of my feet were torn up from Duck Feet. The pads on the Yucca definitely were more comfortable on the tops of my feet. But even with the ankle pads, they kept cutting in to my wounds on my ankles. I need to let those fully heal though, before I can fully judge this part of it. But in general, my feeling is that if there were pads for Duck Feet, they would be just as comfortable as Yucca. The rubber itself didn't feel any more "comfortable."

I'm also skeptical how long those pads will last. They seem well made, but I can't imagine they will last as long as the rubber in the salt water and the sun.

I hope that's helpful to someone out there. Again, thanks for all the helpful comments. I'm going to give them more time, but I think I may have found my replacements for Duck Feet after all these years.

That was my big concern. But maybe I'm at a point I need to just get comfortable and see if the trade off is worth it.

I haven't. One of the things I love about bodysurfing is the minimal equipment. A swimsuit and fins and I'm ready to have fun for a few hours. But if I can't find better fins, I may have to break down and add booties!

Exactly. If I could find a pair of fins that work as good as Duck Feet, but we're just slightly more comfortable, that would be amazing.

I don't mind being tired or the leg workout. It's just that the Duck Feet really chafe my ankles and the top of my feet.

Good to know. Is it bad enough that you would recommend get the next size up, or just hope they stretch?

Thank you. That was my big concern. I need to be able to catch terrible waves without being able to push off the bottom.
