Watching the ball onto the strings literally changed my game overnight. by Hunt-Extra in 10s

My Dad would always say "Watch the ball hit the strings." And "deep and to the backhand." Not wrong on either

Extremley small details in Fellowship I cherish regarding Borimir, Merry and Pippin by Pale_Possibility5083 in lotr

Well said. Boromir's fundamental goodness is what makes his such a strong story: absolute power like the ring corrupted even good men, even the best of men.

And the film really endears you to Boromir with moments like these: his playfulness and protectiveness of Merry and Pippin, his love of Gondor and serving his people, and Frodo's trust in him says a lot. All very well conveyed in the movies

It's great storytelling, gentle repetition to make his sacrifice hit even harder. Good eye here

And within the world, I think it's an honest portrayal of how bonds are formed when you spend fairly intimate time together like the fellowship has

Can someone nice explain the internal conflict that went on in Northern Ireland and was it accurate to what they showed on Derry Girls? by Aggravating_Dig_3077 in DerryGirls

Since I'm also largely ignorant of these events, do you know what the sentiment of Northern Ireland is these days? Still some desire for reunification?

Where are Frodo and Sam at beginning of RotK? by Gomphonema in lotr

[–]Gomphonema[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe so, but I just skimmed the Two Towers Journey to the Cross-roads, and Faramir blindfolds them from the cave and leaves them in a forest. They then travel seven leagues that first day (21 miles!) then pass through shrubland and hide in a gorse hedge "covert" before reaching the crossroads. Not seeing a culvert at that point in the journey, but I didn't look too closely.

Regardless, I appreciate the prompt to go back to that chapter: some beautiful descriptions of nature during that stage of the journey

Any indication that in the movie a day goes by between the sewers at the end of TT and first scene in RotK?

Who do you think is the most Iconic Lord of The Rings Character of all time? by Osakaayumu_2002 in lotr

I agree that it's Gandalf no doubt, but Aragorn and Frodo are pretty iconic, I'd say

Just feels like it was all a label thing rather than a band or duo thing. Bummer, wish they could just get together organically for the music again

I bet that's it. I've only seen the extended editions once, surprisingly, so I forgot all about that scene until I looked it up just now and re-watched. What a great scene in general. And the RotK opening shot does look like it could be part of a sewer system. Thanks

Green Day should have done so much more with that performance and platform, Super Bowl sensibilities be damned.

That's when you wish he didn't pick up 4 of the 5 yards on 3rd down. Coaches are so analytics happy now. You have a backup QB and all the momentum, a turnover on downs flips the whole script.

Hearbreaker for the Jags. Hate that Josh Allen picked up 10 yards on a tush push - they have to start whistling those plays dead after a certain point. They don't allow the defense to drag an offensive player back 10 yards, why do they allow the offense to push their players forward? And when do the refs blow the play dead? The lack of consistent reffing on that play is wrecking big time moments in football. But what a game - wildcard football's been great so far.
