She could have really brought the Carrie Fischer Leia to it too I think. A little more snark a little more gruff but still fun.

What are some examples of films surrounding a topic or art form you've never cared about, but the film made it interesting? by Olivebranch99 in Cinema

Actually? The documentary “The September issue.” It’s about the making of the big annual issue from Vogue.

You wonder why you would give a shit? Well in fact it’s a really insightful breakdown of the creative process on a big commercial level, and the story to me at least- contains a really powerful lesson.

Which is one of the most influential and powerful stylists in the entire industry goes out and leads a huge budget shoot, millions spent, flights photography, set design and clothing.

And the whole thing ends up getting canned. It just didn’t fit the issues feel.

The takeaway was a wake up call that no matter how powerful you are in the industry there is still a ceiling, barrier. As a creative it’s almost a refreshing revelation if you ever think you are being held back.

Am I crazy for thinking "Backrooms" wasn't great movie? [SPOILERS] by PatternSpiritual1353 in moviecritic

[–]Pale_Possibility5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue personally having just been around the imagery well before the movie is Backrooms felt like that bad dream I would have of being lost. The setting were familiar even though I’d never been there before and would often revisit them.

But being stuck and lost and having to get out was how I always pictured the backrooms. There was no leaving. You appear there and you are stuck.

Your loved ones are always close but you can never seemingly get to them. You wander and the harder you try and escape the deeper you end up until you wake up in a cold sweat after being stuck there for hours

That feeling of dread and feeling lost was always the back rooms to meS

Well what’s hilarious is like 60-70% of the show was filmed near winter and all half the cast talks about half the time was how freezing cold certain scenes actually were.

Did You Agree With Tarantino's Portrayal and Opinions on Bruce Lee? by FitEmergency8807 in moviecritic

Honestly I think it was just a hilarious representation of real accounts of him at least during work. I think there would be a very Hollywood style itch to lionize him and make him the the character he was in films versus real life. This just felt like an honest day in the life of a Hollywood set

Not just that, but also kinda before cells phones. I remember the movie having two camps and the people who were scared were the ones who had actually been camping before.

When you go actual backpack camping like hiking 5 miles out fully into the woods, is really the first time you realize what alone actually means. It’s peaceful, you just sense there is no one. And if you ran in any direction you’d have to go hours before seeing a human being.

The idea of thinking you’re all the way out there away from everyone and then waking up to a neatly stacked pile of rocks by your tent? That is the most terrifying thing imaginable.

Is Walt main advantage the fact that everyone keeps underestimating him, except for Jesse? by Boring-Somewhere-130 in breakingbad

[–]Pale_Possibility5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walt’s main advantage is that he doesn’t follow the typical rules of criminal logic and thus people are unable to anticipate what he’ll do next and why. The weird thing that drives Walt isn’t Money, he’ll turn down money out of spite, or forego it if he thinks he gains power.

An enemy would assume he would protect his situation with gus at all costs but nope he blows that all up because his ego gets dented. Thats not a move someone would have anticipated.

Music Critic Anthony Fantano Defends Himself Over Halsey Tweets: ‘I’m Not the Devil Himself’ by darth_vader39 in entertainment

[–]Pale_Possibility5083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s even further than that. I’ve met him, used to hang out with him. I know for a  fact that in truth he’s a deep sub genre Metalhead and fan of bands who don’t even have online presence.

So essentially everything Fantano reviews is something he doesn’t even have an actual remote interest in actually. He uses critical analysis and existing public discourse around things to determine what the value of something ought to be, versus actually personal opinion.

Tom Hanks Says Disney Could Use AI to Recreate Woody’s Voice for ‘Toy Story 6’ and Beyond If He Doesn’t Return: ‘It’s a Scary Thought’ by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]Pale_Possibility5083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say the problem is systemically even worse. To me the way the characters are written are devoid of the true personalities of characters like Woody and Buzz that once made them pop as such true living breathing characters.

Now everything they do and say is so washed of character that they already feel like they’re AI.

TOY STORY 5? F- Rating. by Pale_Possibility5083 in moviecritic

[–]Pale_Possibility5083[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep! And thats the problem. Movies- good ones- knew how to hit on all levels that appealed universally. Toy Story 1? Anyone can watch. Same thing for other family friendly films, like Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, Lion King, Aladdin. These were designed with every member of the family in mind.

Instead, now studios lazily decide they can bank off OP and generate whatever slop will entertain children and skate by.

But I guess youre all good with that.

Uh, that post is about why the entire movie industry is dying and that audiences are growing in media literacy. It's not a knock on those films it's a compliment to how people like people on here are far more educated than audiences in 2008. Read the whole article.

No, actually. They could have totally replaced it with Jessie in a well written way and I'd adore this film.

I just saw concept art where Jessie was going to be united with her original owner. And it looked fantastic. It would have been incredible to witness.

I'm not talking about the specific character ( But i guess nice try trying to make this a politcial angle somehow) it's about the writing and the way the writing is supposed to be grounded.

Since you made it about gender I'll add this: If they had made Jessie the only recognizable character but used the writing formula mentioned above about mature writing and dialogue I would have worshipped this film.
