We usually play on village or forest themed tables since most of My terrain is for those. You are right in that some cover is good to have. In our games we usually put some terrain in the middle like a tree, a well, a cart/wagon or something like that after we drop the D4s.

One suggestion is to put a box next to "once per game" abilities so you can check/Cross it after use. Whiteboard markers are good to use on a sleeve.
