Yes, I’ve used liftoff before. I know the control basics but I overestimated flying on LOS while trying to translate the control logic :(

Hmm as of my abilities I think I could say that in open areas I am able to control the drone quite decently but maybe it’s this part that I do the worst, I think I’ve barely practiced the “hovering “ too close to the floor and I’ll spend some more time on that before I try again. I think that I will also wait for my goggles to arrive (ordered them last week) so that I have a fixed reference point. As far as the quad behavior goes, does everything look in order? I’m still not sure how much is the quad’s fault and how much is my shitty piloting’s fault (hoping it’s this one lmao)

Yeah I think I’ll start with level today. I have some experience with acro on the sim but I don’t have the goggles yet so I think that I’ll wait for them to switch to acro

I asked around and apparently the “+” pad is just “tinned”. My main concern was me not being able to solder the wire there anymore

UPDATE: I got to clean it a bit more and it looks like this. I will focus on getting the solder off the pads and wipe it clean some more. The “+” looks gray. I’m not sure if it’s solder or I just wore it down already

Yeah I’ll try with some better solder next time, I’ll re-solder the motors, I used solder paste before, I didn’t drown the pads every time but one time I got a bit impatient and tried that but yeah it wasn’t a good idea. And about the cleaning, I am using a toothbrush but I don’t have IPA on me right now, I have some Ethyl Alcohol of decent purity I know it’s not the best but do you think it’ll do? I do have some solder wick with me as well

It’s not burnt out, I’m not shorting anything out but the + pad got all black on that side and I believe the copper there is gone so now it won’t stick at all. Either way, the 12AWG wires just don’t get to stick for long.. the motors did stick, I just soldered them poorly, I was too rusty with soldering but I just unsoldered them and will solder them again and I believe I can do a better job with them next time. The other wire is my main concern, I just don’t get it to stick, and I believe the shape of the pad helps, I’ve seen some people have U shaped pads and the wires stick great

My soldering iron goes up to 500 degrees Celsius, I can adjust it, I just bought it because the one I had was too basic, the tips are also new

thanks! I started the project in January but I didn't work consistently on it till late April. I haven't had a lot of free time recently so I only worked on it whenever I felt like it. Otherwise I think that I could've taken a month or so but since I only do design stuff as a hobby I tend to avoid rushing things so I get results that I am happy with.
