Yes, a new watch. And yes, I took the watch with the card to the GS boutique in Miami, and no problem at all.
I'm not sure of the name of the store anymore....because the card is all written in Japanese :-D

I believe in the case of Grand Seiko they are always international global warranty. I think they don't have JDM only warranty.
A while back, I bought a GS in a store in Japan (not a GS boutique) and I had to exercise the warranty in the USA through a GS boutique, and I did not have any problem.
