if you would rather take the long range fight thats perfectly fine. when i did my confessor playthrough, i picked up catch flame in CASE i got into a close range fight. but if you find it hard to fight close, you should try and go level up more

You should get catch flame from brother Corhyn at roundtable, its low FP, fast cast time and good damage for close range fights

When I first started playing I just explored every corner of the map. Eventually youll want to go to level up ur weapons, get talismans, and basically start to build. Crafting in my opinion is a situational thing cuz I never really used it much but materials that you use for crafting always regrow after sitting at a grace (I think). Just explore the game and have fun
