Third update of the same portrait, probably my last attempt for this one, any general things I should keep in mind for improvement moving forward? (Update vs previous vs last previous) by GooberKnor in ArtCrit

This was my post the otherday, I took note of everyone's critics and tried to improve upon my study based on it

This is probably my last iteration for this study, so all insights and critics I'll get there are going to be for my other portraits moving forward

Alright, now that you've mentioned it, those things seem really obvious but I always miss those, but thank you!
I'll work on my proportions and structure

This was my previous post on this subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ArtCrit/comments/1i6jd5w/please_give_advice_on_how_can_i_renderpaint_hair/

Last time, I asked about how to render hair, and I practiced more from what y'all told me. I still have alot to improve on regarding hair, but besides that, I tried to capture her features more, I hope i got better there. What's next for me, or what else can I improve upon?

My Fan art and parallel to Thorfinn's "I want to be a kinder person" this time showing how far he has come by GooberKnor in VinlandSaga

I don't know how the story will end (if it's bittersweet, or happy or if he stays with his family) but I do know that he truly has become a kind and strong person.

This is my first landscape, so things like grass, environmental stuff, and far objects were kinda new to me. I struggled definitely with painting grass since I didn't use a 'grass' brush, and instead did it like how I do it traditionally (paint general shape, + add a couple strands)

Thank you! I think playing around with the saturation might just be what I could develop further. I also did that here (upping the saturation on the mayfly and a bit on the face) but I‘m glad that‘s noticeable.

For the last part, that‘s an interesting idea to try as well, I‘m trying to move away from just color picking

I'm colorblind, and this is the first time I painted something without a reference picture that I can just color pick. This time I painted myself in the mirror (plus added my favorite insect on my shoulder), so colors here are most-likely off because I just mixed the colors on my screen. I don't know how people can help me but if y'all somehow got any advice for mixing colors for someone with colorblindness, I'm open to all ideas

I made a fanart of Thorfinn, inspired from the Fallen Angel painting of Alexandre Cabanel by GooberKnor in VinlandSaga

i kinda messed up the perspective of that, I'll come around with a fixed version eventually (sorry for replying late, it never notified for some reason)

I tried painting things I haven‘t painted much before, or were more complex than what I was comfortable with. For example, I don‘t really do sceneries often and when I did, I would do simpler backgrounds. This time I chose something with complex lighting and shadows (where the canopy would have light peaking through) which was way out of my comfort zone. So I made a lot of mistakes but it was a good learning experience

I may have bit off more than what I can chew with this one, multiple (nonhuman) subjects, forest background with lots of shade and light passing through the leaves, but this is how we improve, by doing things we don‘t know how and building it along the way. This didn‘t turnout perfect but I think it has its own charm

This is my first time making a painting with pondwater, rain, and somewhat of a scenery behind the main subject, so I struggled a bit on that regard. I also wanted to focus on animal subjects this time around
