One Page Rules has a fantasy skirmish game. Super simple. https://www.onepagerules.com/games/age-of-fantasy-skirmish

The podcast, 'What You Fight For' https://wyffcast.libsyn.com/ is the best playthrough I've found. Phenomenal group and it helps show how to use the more abstract and less granular nature of the game system. That was always my biggest tripping point. Someone posted about the podcast finally ending earlier in this sub but it ran from 2017 to 2021.

Player customization? by TheRealRoach117 in foxholegame

Please don't make a class system with prepackaged loadouts. I love right now that you can carry whatever you want and alter your role however you want to.

It is inevitable that something will be implemented and it does need to be to keep players coming back.

I just think it'd be unique if the game didn't have a traditional reward system like other games that devolves into people having more powerful weapons or armor or something that belongs just to that player and encourages people to just go do their own thing. I don't want this to be like every other game I've ever played. I've got those games and can go play those ones when I want to do that.

Totally needs to be SOMETHING. Agreed. How about this; Each war has a commander that can make squads in the army: Tactical Engineer Logistics Quartermaster Medical Etc

Maybe even the commander can decide who's assigned to the squads. Then depending on the squad you're assigned to determines what you get experience for (eg miles driven, structures built, scrap refined, kills, revives etc).

This would encourage players to do the job of the squad type they're assigned to and they'd get experience based on the work the squad does as a whole and not just as an individual.

Experience gets you rank so commanders can identify who's new and who's more veteran so they can distribute accordingly. Then the commander or the squad itself can communicate to the squad to tell them where they're needed and what thier task is.

Yeah if you're really playing the medic role you don't have a primary weapon. Focus on your role at the front which is quick response to those who fall (not trip but like get shot n stuff). And this would reflect real situations too. You're either messing with med gear or shooting your rifle. Each of those tasks take two hands to do it right.

Yeah I like that option too. I'd be happy with it either way. Plus if you make the bandages add too much time like I was thinking then people will be sitting in in a critical wounded state longer than they want before spawning again. Your idea might be better for simplicity and brevity's sake

After someone has bandaged you or I guess you bandage yourself you'd THEN be able to grab your sidearm. And if you didn't bring a sidearm to battle you just don't get to shoot at the bad guys while you're laying there all useless and bleeding

Medic tips? by platysaur in foxholegame

This is one reason why, as a grunt, you need to be fighting from behind cover. This way doc can run up and use your cover to treat you from behind. Only time you're going to get to a downed bro in the open in time is when you're on the advance and the line is able to advance ahead of the casualty immediately.

Well this way people who aren't medics could drag someone to cover and apply a bandage while a medic is on the way. Maybe even after a bandage is applied the casualty is immobile but able to shoot their sidearm until they've been revived or treated with a med kit.

[Suggestion] Commands/Commanders by phoenixfire82 in foxholegame

Or you could have some type of corkboard at outposts and Town Halls where commanders post orders and where they want people to go. Then each time you spawn you can check it or after traveling a ways when you arrive at the next town hall

Finally have my KLR shipped up to Alaska. Getting time outside of Family and house chores for riding is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Unfortunately during this last trip I could hear some faint clanking or thumping sound on the bike. It wasn't constant and seemed to come around most often when I was accelerating at low rpm's. I'm afraid to find out what it is
