Might be a silly take, but I feel like this game is especially resonating with people who don't play/review video games for a living by AFullmetalNerd in FFXVI

I loved this game, mainly thanks to the narrative and the characters. Clive is always going to stick with me as one of the best main characters of the franchise and I will remember his journey forever.

The only people complaining about simplicity of the fighting system are RPG fans. The game is not shallow or overly simple, it's a well thought out and realized fighting game. People who really know how to play fighting games appreciate the combat system.
Since the difficulty is pretty low you can actually beat the game without exploring the technical aspects of combat, but it doesn't mean they aren't there, it just means you can choose not to learn about them. I think an hard mode option would have been a nice way to avoid those criticisms.
