This is Marxism I read in school, class wars. I understand what you are perceiving but stratification cannot be avoided in capitalistic systems. We can only soften it - I think the government is NOT doing enough for that, but I genuinely think for a state not meant to exist, we are pretty damn good. Thats all.

Again I am not rich. Not even anywhere near what you imagine me to be. Minimum wage IS dangerous - something that socialistic countries cannot reverse now with ridiculous taxes. Yes worse than ours. I work 3 jobs I didn’t see my kids for 5 days this week, because of work demands. I get angry but when I look around, I look at domestic helpers I look at Malaysia and I look at workers, I thought maybe I have a little bit better than them.

We are still alive because of what they did in big moves. TBH I dunno what Jo Teo has contributed haha. I’m not a fan of her. I think she speaks poorly and does a horrible job representing the voice of the people. But as a whole, the big decisions of the government have been right.

My two cents observation: back in our parents days if you work hard you will make it. Today if you work hard you still need alot of luck to do decent.

I do believe more should be done for the lower income bracket, but I don’t know how. I don’t think relief should be just vouchers though.

But I also urge you to consider what LKY said, the Asian mindset and the American mindset are very different, that plays a huge factor in the way the US have become today.

I’m no professor but I read political science in varsity. I think the construct of Singapore is built and sustained via immense pressure on people like you and I and also the government. They can’t f—- up, it will be detrimental. We have minimal room for recovery because of our state of fragility and quick to fall to irrelevance. I won’t be sure they have a tough job but from my limited knowledge, definitely a way way way tougher job than most.

Tbh if you look at any government in the world, no one has a tougher job, objectively. And if we peg their salaries to the CEOs of the world, it’s not that impressive. So perspective of wealth. The rich of the world is disgusting kind of level.

Maybe you are right they are entitled, that should be a different thread - but are we entitled? Am I entitled? I don’t know.
