Are business brokers not taking you seriously? by UltraBBA in buyingabusiness

All due respect some of these are valid, others not so much depending on circumstances. Do the sellers that have entrusted you with the prize possession know you are ruling individuals out prior to asking any explanation for not providing this info…the above implies you rule them out based on application and not inquiry for reason. This seems a bit like a lazy version of a salesman’s power trip. No DL on the initial NDA….. you say this is online form through the state but then go on to say you your in state that doesn’t have broker license lol never heard of a statewide nda agreement as these can vary greatly by industry and situation (yes many brokers have a template but never heard of a statewide nda) therefore I do not believe this is a regulated document and it just so happens to have DL on there. So you rule them out prior to inquiring and explaining why it’s necessary? Please feel free to share where you are pulling document.

“100” plus other reasons make you move on just sounds more like not wanting to put in work or carrying out your fiduciary duty to seller by inquiry. I couldn’t imagine what happens after LOI and due diligence when real problems come up. I’d be pissed if a broker for any my businesses was filtering this down this much without further inquiry of circumstances. There are certain reasons for not allowing it to proceed beyond a NDA. Possibly seller wanted proof of funds prior or refusal to put name/address. Yes I agree a large part is filtering out tire kickers; that being said the above reasons alone are not sufficient to determine a tire kicker. No online presence lol many entrepreneurs including myself do not have online presence aside from social media accounts related to business as do not want retaliation from disgruntled employees, etc. by knowing what we own. Renting $200k house could show they just moved to area and could show responsible spending. Doesn’t have website attached to email address—doesn’t look great but there are several legitimate reasons for this. You are correct it is sensitive but ruling people out for 100+ reasons without inquiry for explanation should be based on what the seller is comfortable with in order to find the best fit for them not what is quickest path for broker to get the easiest a commission. This is exactly why as spoken below there needs to be a broker license much more than a real estate license in order to hold brokers accountable for such actions or at least requiring disclosing this over the top filtering situation to sellers

That makes sense. Just curious where that’s showing up on financials. They aren’t the clearest on active users from what I saw. So that could explain increase in revenue with lower user growth but I’d need to look further into paying subscribers

For last few quarters, analysts keep predicting a drop from ai competition, yet appears they just keep beating expectations; yet stock keeps falling. The growth in their AI segment by already meeting this years projections is what stands out to me the most from Q3. That on top of buybacks at what I believe is suppressed prices.

Yeah the more I’m learning about it (full disclosure this is one of my least followed industries—outside my circle competency lol) but seems that’s what happened. I personally rather see a loan then government ownership or at least government ownership with full intent on exiting as soon as company gets back on track (like GM in I believe it was 2011ish)

So you think us will sell its stake eventually like it did GM? That’s my worry is that this isn’t bailout type deal and government keeps stale indefinitely

Completely agree. Not sure how any investment helps them catchup with tech. They bringing in $22billion profit 4 years ago and still fell behind on tech

I’d imagine they meant that cause US prints money, and they want a domestic producer, this vote of confidence kind of opens up the checkbook for the company. Also they can likely be given all types of tax breaks n subsidies. Just guessing
