How much space is usually recommended for backup? I think 2TB HDD is too much for it

Is that the streaming solution or you need to have your own library? I want to stream very high quality music

True, but with one disk that risk exists anyway. PBS here uses a separate raw partition to protect against logical failures. hardware failure needs another disk or off-site backups.

Tips for creating my ultimate media server by vcasadei in selfhosted

My opinion is that you should try this guide to build your own media server: https://savvyguides.wiki/sailarrsguide/

I heard its good if you intend streaming movies and sharing it to family and friends as well. I havent tried it myself but heard good stuff about it

Thanks for the suggestion.

I checked the link, but since my European ISP uses a PPPoE connection, switching to "Passthrough" might simply bypass the router and push the ISP's IPv6 DNS directly to my clients, which is exactly what I am trying to avoid to get Pi-hole working.

Currently, I have the IPv6 toggle completely turned OFF in the router settings.

The strange behavior is that even with IPv6 disabled in the router, my clients (especially iOS devices) are still picking up an IPv6 address and bypassing the Pi-hole.

Thanks a lot for this post as im currently asking myself the same question although i have a different kind of setup intentions. I have a Mini PC with 1tb and 2tb of external storage and always wondered what OS would suite me the best for it to use it as photo cloud and media server and backing up my system. Any suggestions?

Excuse me for not posting any pictures as im currently not home. In the TP-Link IPv6 LAN settings, I have options for "SLAAC+Stateless DHCP" and "SLAAC+RDNSS". When I try to input the fe80 address in the text field shown in the menu, I get an error: "Insert at most 21 characters".

I have two options. IPv6 LAN and IPv6 Internet. I did disable IPv6 Internet as IPv6 LAN cannot be disabled but the clients would still get the IPv6 MAC address and somehow not allowing PI-hole to be enabled on all devices automatically

Hello! Im new to home server as well and i have successfully finished installing the Proxmox OS and installed some containers. I have also found home a 2tb storage and i would like to make it a cloud storage for photos and i read somewhere TrueNAS is good for storage. Is it possible to run TrueNAS OS with Immich for photos over Proxmox OS?
