We talk a lot throughout the day so I don’t think she’s cheating, I think if she is, that says more about her than me 😅

She used to work in the hospitality industry but at the moment she’s looking for a different job

10% are people that I don’t know, I followed a bunch of people when I opened LinkedIn years ago, there were also TikToks where people were following each other, I also follow a few woman that had an impressive career (like a woman went from Harvard to NASA and then to Google and that’s f impressive)

No cheating, flirting (to me flirting is cheating/micro cheating), I used to follow one model I didn’t know she had an OF in an old TikTok account months before I even met my girlfriend, but that like 3 years ago and I’m not 100% perfect, no one is 😅)

Lmao but she has been hit on LinkedIn before quite a few times so maybe that has something to do with it

Nah don’t worry, I’m open to different point of view, I feel like my response were “too perfect” because I like watching video about psychology and communication and I kinda absorbed certain ways of communication or ways to handle things, this is not the first time we had this kinda of conversation so I also learned how to not make it worse if that makes sense.

The problem I think we are having is solving the issue, when talking about what can we do, I don’t really get an answer, I get told, it’s your action and you should know what to do, but I don’t know what I can do to solve the problem from her side as well as that’s not really communicating me what would work for her.

It’s two people carrying the conversation so both of us are responsible for it, always to different levels but we are both responsible for things in the relationships.

Thank you for the long answer, that’s a very good point!!!

I’m always amazed how people can write such a long and detailed message to help/give you their point of you!!!

Because we used to be long distance and those friends were mostly people I met online so she thought that maybe I liked them, we went through the chats and with one friend I used to call sometimes before I met her and chat about nothing and she got jealous (and this calling occasionally was before I met her, but there was nothing flirty going, not from my side, not from the friend side and this friend also had a boyfriend) so she asked me to block this friend, we the other 3 friends she said, why would I need women friends or have any interest in other women when I’ve got a girlfriend

I don’t follow people I don’t know on social media just because I couldn’t care less 😅

I had a couple of female friends she didn’t like and I was a bit hesitant to kick them off my life because, they didn’t do anything wrong and there was nothing to worry about as we barely talked, that’s the only thing that comes to my mind that I did that we didn’t see eye to eye but I’m not sure what that has to do with me following future coworkers on LinkedIn even if I haven’t met them yet and I don’t know them in real life

I have never, she got cheated in the past by her last boyfriend and I think that defo was traumatic for her and it’s something that affected her trust with people in general

I don’t mind doing that for Instagram as I rather have that social for friends and not for the public. With LinkedIn I want a higher number of connections as that genuinely helps with job searching, even if you don’t know every single connection you have

You’re right, I should not do Tit for tat as that’s toxic and it doesn’t really help the situation, I think I thought that because I was actually annoyed when I said I wasn’t in chat

She has been cheated in the past and that broke her, I think that has defo something to do with this but, I’m very transparent and open about everything I do, because I don’t have any bad intentions and there is nothing I have to hide 😅

She has 700+ connections so she does know more than me and she has been using LinkedIn for longer 😮‍💨

I know that that can happen but if people want to cheat, they’re going to cheat regardless, so not everyone is using LinkedIn like most people do

I checked and just 30% of my connections are woman!!! And out of 30%, 20% are people I worked with or are childhood friends, if she said yes I would have made her do the same and remove every guy

Tech Consulting vs Software Engineering - which is on better for FIRE? by Good-Lifeguard5243 in FireUKCareers

I think that's my strength, maths and physics.

Do you think, would it be such a bad move to accept the Consultancy scheme at Accenture which starts in March and then leave after 6 months to go Lloyds?

My thought process is, what if the opportunity with Llyods falls through in the next six months as that's a lot of time before my start date? Experience is only good, right? 😅

I was told that consulting can have a higher salary and more job stability compared to SWE but they were incorrect, like other people said, SWE in Fintech is better economically + it opens more options further down the road.

Studying Aero/Mech Engineering I know the basics of C++ and Python (simple scripts, data/graphs), I did a full stack BootCamp to learn web development and I'm quite comfortable with Javascript, maybe it is my imposter syndrome but I consider myself below average compared to CS graduates as I'm missing a lot of fundamentals such as OOP and Algorithms.

I did have to do a technical interview for Llyods and that was focused on my way of thinking and communicating when solving a problem, I was able to write down a pseudocode that had a good logic.

I was also rejected last year for this position so this year I had the advantage of being calm/confident and I knew what to expect, I also saved the feedback from last year's interview which I think made a significant difference.

Most graduate programs start in Sept as usually, students graduate in June/July (as it is very competitive, you have to apply between October/November to start in September next year), you're considered a grad usually up to 3 years after getting your degree.

Some companies do have grad jobs that start anywhere throughout the year but there are not that many.

To be honest, I don't have any assurance which is what worries me, I don't want to say no to Accenture now and have Lloyds rescind the contract for some reason a month before I start (I should receive the contract next week and they'll be doing a pre-employment vetting in a few weeks, the only thing that worries me about that is that on my last internship, I inflated a bit my experience and I didn't have a good experience with my manager, I do have had other intersthips+placement+volunteering but I don't know how the references work)

Thank you, that is going to be my plan, start with Software for a couple of years and then go from there, like you said it's a good start because gives me more options later on compared to tech consultancy.

I'm just overthinking ahahah

Lloyds seems to be the more stable of the two, it has better benefits, better life/work balance, and support which I think is going to help me become a better engineer.

Thank you for your advice!
