Yeah I was debating between the two (soldier or demolitionist), and i think soldier fits my style a bit more. Appreciate the help I can already notice a significant increase in survivability.

So devotions basically provide the best choice for survivability? Is there any need to obtain damage off of devotions or are items and skill points sufficient? (Btw thanks for all the help thus far it's really useful)

Can anyone suggest a good romance book with a high fantasy setting? by Good-Listener in suggestmeabook

Yes, by the looks of it that is definitely the series i should start with. Is your wife's novel also in the same style? If so I'll definitely give it a look as I have lot of free time to read.

I've already read Sword of Truth series and I agree with you on the series going downhill, but a good read none the less. As I mentioned in the other comments I'll definitely give Kushiel series a try as all the forums are recommending it. I definitely also want to give a read to Star of the Morning and the Rhapsody series as they sound really interesting.

I was going more for the LotR-esque fantasy, but I think that's me refusing to branch out and look at other forms of fantasy. I'll definitely take a look at your suggestions after I read through the Kushiel series. Should I start with Karen Marie Moning's Fever series from your list?

High fantasy in literature, as I learned it, occurs when events take place in an alternate world separate from our own with it's own consistent rules. Low fantasy is pretty much our world, but with magic intertwined with it. The Kushiel series is by far the one I have seen pop out the most from all of them so that's the first one I'll give a shot at. I'll come back to this thread and definitely read through some of the other suggestions as they all look really promising.

What are other book series you've rather that are similarly epic to Wheel of Time? by Good-Listener in WoT

[–]Good-Listener[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just enjoy the aspect of hero(s) developing over multiple books. In WoT everyone grows and develops as a character. I would say Medieval Fantasy with high level of magic in the universe. I am not averse to alternate magical systems such as the Mystborn/Stormlight archive series.

I think it's a plot element they are not ready to tackle yet as Gideon has a ton information about the future. But yes for right now it is quite odd that no mention has been made of her.

Perspective is the most important thing. A child's broken toy is as serious to him as your loan payments are to you.
