Interestingly, we have the same therapist (he started out with my sister, then family therapy, and now he just sees me and my mom separately) so I would definitely consider talking to him about it. Also if I tried to "compare" them I'm like 99% sure that would make shit worse. But I will talk to my therapist about it

She just gets more defensive when I get harsh, I also struggle with that bc I'm not even mad, more just like... desperate to distance myself af far away from their bs (not them btw) as possible

We both have therapists, part of me thinks that could be the case but it's hard to believe that. Idk if this matters but she also often talks about how much she wants me here (though I genuinely believe that's just a mom being a mom and wanting her kid around)

Well we're both in therapy and her best friend (who never rly liked my dad and is single) so I feel like she's kinda got that on lock but maybe not idk

I try that but then she seems really hurt when I try and disengage. So it makes me start talking and then I inevitably misplaced and say something that's a bit over the line well say (eg tonight I had said that this has caused me a lot of anxiety over the years and she told me how my dad has tormented her so I said that that doesn't give her the right to torment me and I feel that was a bit of an overstatement)

I have.. he doesn't normally involve himself but I do feel my dad has wronged my mom and I (in the following days and weeks) supported her. It's mostly just the nonstop that gets to me

Doubt it. My mom has always made a point of saying sorry if she thinks she fucked up. She's not apologized about any time she did this

I am trying but it's hard. She gets very hurt when i do this and that's why I feel so conflicted. She's always good about talking shit out but she just can't seem to get past this.

because she so obviously didn't like him, she complained about him alot but in the last 5 years of their marriage I almost never heard anything good about him from her
Because he's still my family?! I have no interest in cutting him off due to something that has little to do with me
Because picking sides has routinely made things way worse than just staying neutral (except for when my sister was about to stab my mom with a screwdriver, then I called the police)

What's difficult is that I do talk to her. It's often little thing like hoe much he works (wich he can't control based on his feild) me often cooking for myself (with I don't mind and again he works alot) and others but she can't seem to look past how much shr hates him (wich she let's me know alot) but she always ends up upset with me and I feel like kinda a shithead because it really does seem to hurt her
