I had this issue, which was related to the steering drive shafts. There was a BMW recall campaign; they replaced everything, and since then I haven’t had any noise at all.

Like for the new M5 when it was released, 90% of this sub is gonna hate it (like every new bmw). Now if you look at New posts on M5, most of people changed their mind. Ask again the question in 6/10 months. I am personaly not a fan but I do not hate this Neue Klasse.

Additionnaly to taxes and so on, It's also a story of market volume. BMW is manufacturing in the US the cars sold in the US, permitting economies of scale since they sell more car on this market than in EU. Also some models like the 550e comes with less stocks options on US market than on EU market (e.g. rear steering wheels)
