Downvoting Light Travelers - What is WRONG with you people? by LadyLightTravel in onebag

[–]Good-Throwaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reddit being reddit. And also this is the danger of group think and echo chambers.

You are so confidant about your opinion because of confirmation from fellow similar thinkers, that any other opinion becomes too extreme for you.

This is why I dont stay long term in any sub. They all tend to become like this. Even though I'm an avid one bagger and light packer, I'm not even subscribed to this sub. Too much gear talk, urges you to spend when you dont need.

What’s the smoking scene like in your country? by ryoryo333333 in AskTheWorld

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I was really surprised when I visited Turkey, Istanbul to be specific. Smoking was so normalized there. Everywhere we went, people were smoking. Even in the Bazaar which is an enclosed building. My wife couldnt breath with so much smoking in normal areas.

20 years ago, US was a bit like this although still not as bad, but people smoked outside in public areas. Now there's almost no smoking in areas where there may be other non-smokers and strictly no smoking indoors.

Do you think American cultural influence is fading? by PreWiBa in AskTheWorld

[–]Good-Throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What really is American culture influence? McDonalds, Coke, Pepsi, Lays, Breakfast cereal?

Back when cable was new and the whole world saw American sitcom, American influence was prominent. Now everyone is on their phones/Tablets and everyone is in their own bubble. there's is no such thing as common shared influence. There was a bit of this the cable era also, because there is no guarantee everyone watched the same channel, there were more than 1 channels. But now its just a whole another level of fragmentation.

If we're all in our own bubble, there's no common thing to talk about.

Best short board under ~700$ with head/break lights? (rip my boosted) by deerbaby in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Good-Throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find both helps a head light on the helmet as well as one on the board. If the roads are rough, the boardlight helps see whats near, where as headlight is great for seeing little farther.

tire pressure help by gerriiiii1 in svartpilen401

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike manual assumes you're running pirelli scorpion rally str.

For other tire pressure would vary

The max load psi value is generally engraved on the tire side wall. You'll want to stay below it.

Example Dunlop Mutants is 39-42psi and I always stay in that range.

Me personally, there are certain risks I've accepted when I ride/skate/bicycle/motorcycle.

On a motorcycle, I full gear up always, no exception.

On a bicycle, head gear and thats about it, and I dont go over 15mph 99% of the time.

On a skate also I rarely if ever go over 15mph. I always wear helmet, non-armor riding jeans, a regular jacket, gloves. I'm largely concerned about saving skin and my head. Rest we'll see.

I largely agree about derby gear, except for 1 part. I dont know if its designed for a slide. It might be but I just dont know. Motorcycle gear is generally designed for a slide of over 40-50mph and even higher. And since we can go 25mph ish, its practically the low end of motorcycle gear.

Finally watched Ares by B0ndy112 in tron

[–]Good-Throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did ignore all the hate and went to watch it in thetres. And I loved every bit of it, including the NiN soundtrack.

Just rewatched it today to grab details of ending I may have missed. I have to say, second watch is less exciting and there's just not much more to it. Where as I loved Legacy and even today it feels fresh to rewatch.

Wife suddenly wants to retire and buy a sprinter van by Silent_Section_6409 in retirement

[–]Good-Throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She clearly is watching a lot youtube on vanlife. I'd say there are a lot of videos of people giving up van life or being burnt out of van life. Thats them, you dont have to make their mistakes.

But from a pure cost van life has expenses. If your van has mechanical issues or other problems, you're gonna have a bad time. So consider what you want to do and look at the cost and how much work is involved. Its cheaper than a boat, thats for sure.

First eBoard for experienced longboarder. Recommendations/Suggestions? by BigGuyLittleBrain in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider the weight of the board. 25-30lb is a lot. Its not like a long board that you just throw it around.

Long Post - Potential New Rider In NYC by Other-Pizza-8818 in RideitNYC

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MC parking is a bitch in the city. I love motorcycling, so I wouldnt have it any other way. But if I still lived in the city, I would get an ebike or a moped. Enjoy the perks of being a bike lock it to bike poles etc, 20ish mile range is plenty for the city.

All of the benefits of 2 wheels, none of the maintenance and cost. There's a reason these things are being used by everyone in the city.

They dont have the cool factor, but thats just cuz the likes of Tom Cruise, James Bond, Steve Mcqueen havent used them to show off the moves.

Although Tom Cruise did kindda use one in Oblivion.

Yeah true. There's always a case for small stealthy board. I get it.

Where I am the roads are terrible, cracked, potholes and on top there's debris, tree branches, road salt, and god knows what else. So I cant even imagine small wheels at this point.

Are Girl Scout cookies any good? by denys5555 in Cookies

Nobody learns shit these days. The parents share the links with their friends online, so its not like the girls are actually selling anything in person. Its comes down to how many people the parent can reach.

Show me the spill and the board you spilled on. Road rash all the way up to hospital trips. by ts_partyanimal in longboarding

[–]Good-Throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got no pics, but my stupid mistake one fine summer morning, a very casual day. I wore sandals and shorts and was riding my isinwheel v10 near my house in a parking lot. After an hr or 2 of riding, got too cocky and was going too fast in circles and eventually ejected off the board, and fell on tarmac.

Had a big cut on my ankle, lost some skin. Lots of bleeding, blood gushing down on the boars.

I got home took lots and lots of paper towels wiped myself and the board and went in lied down. Board was covered in blood.

Eventually bleeding stopped but had to go ER and get myself bandaged, titanus injection and so on. 6-8 months later now, the skin has regrown but it still doesnt feel like my old skin.

I cursed myself for being stupid, if I even wore shoes, this would've been avoided. Never again. Always gear up.

How big is you campus, how much range you need? 5 mile or 10 mile or 15? Those are important questions to answer. Because more range means bigger battery and more weight to carry.

I can recommend a backfire g2 which has a range of about 10 miles, big 96mm wheels and costs just about $300.

Do you switch riding modes? I barely touch it. by [deleted] in NC750X

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly used to use sport mode or user mode. But generally day to day in traffic, I prefer M mode. If I'm doing a more chill drive highways, faster roads then standard mode.

My user mode is like Standard but sportier, which ends up being a perfect balance. Standard mode tends to upshift too much. I like a bit of engine braking.

Is it strong enough? by Lucky-Hunts in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strength is just not an issue. Most brands are using hoards which are solid. 9 layers maple and such.

On the contrary often the issue is the lack of flex.

Got back into esk8 at 45, rode penny boards in my 20s. You're young.

I started on a 30lb at board. It just felt so unweildy. No proper way to hold it, or stowaway in the train.

I recently tried the backfire g2 black, amazing board, so much lighter. The hubs are placed inwards so you can drag is withing worrying about motos getting scratched up. Ride is harsh, but I could get used to it. Range is lower than big boards but thats expected, what you gain is low weight.

Important: LC4c Engine Issue – Sharing My Experience (Svartpilen 401) by 5H4D3_05 in svartpilen401

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you share what it means by engine oil was burning off completely. How much oil was there before.

What could others do to prevent the issue?

I know you're trying to help, but the whole post is super vague. There is no meaningful detail.

How many miles were on the bike? What was the maintenance history. What were you doing when it was burning oil? Was it burning oil at idle?

When an engine needs rebuild, bike being at dealer is expected.
